What's new

Following potential 2014 draftees

Enes Kanter has averaged over 15 pts and about 15 rebounds in the last 4 games where he's gotten starter's minutes. Yet, David Locke likes to bag on him for lack of defense and not helping the team win, when the team's obviously tanking. What's up with that?

Locke is a bitch, that's what's up.

Instead of meeting with Coach K, Jabari should call Thomas S.
Jabari, you averaged 19 pts/per but Coach K still benched you at the end of games. Even as a #2 or #3 pick, you'll make more over the life of your contract than you would by playing another year and perhaps being the #1 pick.

You have to roll the dice. You won't have a better chance than this of winding up in LA, Boston or Utah. Any one of those cities would be fantastic for you. Sure, you could go to Milwaukee, Philly or Orlando. But that's the chance you would take in any season. This is the best chance of landing on a team that is truly on the rise or will spend the dollars to do it.

I agree. That's something that initially crossed my mind...
I also think Philly and Orlando are also good destinations. You see good executive work in Orlando since the Dwight Howard era and weather is fine. Suburban Miami. Works for most I guess. Or have you ever seen a Warriors player complain about anything but on court failure?
Philly has big market potential if the franchise under new ownership and stuff can get it done the right way and start a winning culture that attracts fans.

So you have a year where
-Charlotte is not in the bottom 3
-2 major markets are in the bottom 6
-2 high quality small markets

I'd take that risk of a 21 or 18% chance that I end up in Milwaukee...

Plus next year Philly is going to be in #1 contention again.

I don't know what to make of the Bucks next year. They have some guys there, so they might be closer to the playoffs if everything goes right(Mayo, Sanders, Ilyasova being productive, Henson + Adetokunbo making progress, top4 pick this year, Brandon Knight becoming better, Khris Middleton duplicating his outside shooting from this season)

Sacto will be down there again.

For LA it depends on Love or whatever they do this summer. If it's still Kobe and a group of outcasts then it's lottery again...

Utah's progress is not secured...Ty Corbin as a worst case scenario.

I can envision Denver tanking depending on their health situation(McGee and Gallinari are still out long term)

New Orleans could throw the towel if they don't have a healthy group and say we want another top pick before we target the playoffs.

Minnesota should consider it as well with Love's future wide open.

New York might be competing for a bot pick if Melo is gone.

Orlando should be going up, as well as the Cavs and Pistons have clearly the guys to gather more wins. But new executives in the latter two cities might be like: I want an overflow of talent for my first campaign and tank as well.

Will be an interesting summer

Boston won't be there if they stick with Rondo, have an healthy Avery Bradley with a high value draft pick from this year and their vets...Sullinger could make progress, Olynyk as well...Green w/o the ball in his hand as a 6th man heat check kinda guy is also more valuable!

Don't know how reliable.. but was told that Jabari called an announcement date not thinking about it being on the eve of Duke's annual banquet. Coach Kryziezgkvsy asked him to postpone as to not create a distraction for the banquet.

If true, he's declaring.

Great news.

PS: would rep, but you know, you're at the MAX Rep and all, it would be pointless.

fun fact:
a former neighbour of mine's name is Krzyzewski.

Also Jabari wouldn't be a lock by any means next year to be #1. If the first to pick wants to go big there's some intriguing players and if Parker isn't able to expand his game and both immediately and steadily improve his weak spots he's going to still "only" top3 with the option that some bigs totally impress and bring their stock to the next level.
Mudiay will also be up there. Huge talent.

Yes. In my opinion, he only stays to 'improve his game' and/or play for a title.. not to improve his stock.

And, yes, I could see Mudiay potentially going #1.. kind of reminds me of Wall.

I actually think that NBA scouts and executives are smart enough to realize that improving the game means improving/keeping the stock.
With improving his stock I'd mean some fishy scheme where you always try to hide Jabari in a zone with a lot of switching and try to let his only defensive responsibility be funneling players into Okafor 1v1 and taking their shots/sweetspots away.
Because Jabari has even more sleep deprivation than Alec Burks and it shows in his team defense/BBIQ. Everyone hoped he'd be an okay off ball defender so he could rest vs the less talented forward on defense and get off on offense.
Also bad passer. That would be a huge point of emphasis if he can improve these aspects.
Now hire Beilein's assistant to install a zone defense 40 min a game so none can tell if Jabari is still horrible on defense...Or you simply hire Mike Woodson, because that's basically what the Knicks been doing all year long.

The thing that seperates Mudiay from Wall IMO. No hyper inflated ego. Plays defense.
On offense they're pretty similar in their playstyle right now. Guess Wall is a little more 'electric'.

ya gotta love how he passes the ball... really not a fan of his shooting but Evan Fournier was a 27% 3pt shooter in the french leagues and is now almost 39% in the NBA, so i guess there's hope

Great news.
