Following potential 2014 draftees

We still have Kanter for one year, plus Gobert will be ready at least defensively to play bigger minutes in two years. Vonleh would have plenty of time to improve before he needs to step in and play big minutes.

I'm not a big fan of letting talent rot on a bench. You can do that the first year, play him in a lesser role rotation minutes and play with them depending how he works in practice and performs. Let him discover that the other 299 NBA rotation players are also very talented.

2nd year you push it. Give him an offseason task to work on with his development coaches, give him a bigger role, responsibility and see how he improves.

Well isn't that what I basically said above??

The last piece to the 2014 NBA Draft puzzle is in place. Croatian Mario Hezonja of Barcelona will NOT enter the draft, we've been informed.

Surprising development: Latvian 7-footer Kristaps Porzingis (1995) has entered his name in the 2014 draft. 1st round prospect for sure.

hes in the top tier of players i want at 23... this guy is simply a better version of Isaiah Austin, and he has more ability to play PF

Porzingis is no Jan Vesely or Donatas Motiejunas. this block is on Illimane Diop, a lottery prospect next year with a reported wingspan of 7'8-7'9"

Kristaps was one of the players i was speculatively eyeing for next years 1st rounder, IMO hes got major sleeper potential

this is the Porzingis vid that i was looking for, watch him attack the basket off the dribble... i really like his coordination for a 7 footer

hes also the 4th youngest player in this draft

Wait till he get measured. Read reports he's grown over the last year. Right now I expect him to be somewhere between 6'10 and 6'11 in shoes. That's Dwight Howard, Al Horford size.

Julius Randle: 6'9" with a 6'11" wingspan.
Noah Vonleh: 6'9" (or 6'10" depending on the site used) with a 7'3" wingspan.

So both very close to each other in height, but Vonleh is effectively 4" taller when it comes to rebounding, putting his arms in the passing lanes, etc. I like Vonleh...a lot. Could he bust? Yes. Maybe you don't have that same fear with Randle, because Julius has a motor. Randle is the safer pick, but I have concerns; he's not going to be able to just bully other PF's in the league to get his points. Gordon is also risky as you're counting on him improving his shooting. All three of those guys have major ???'s.

Jazz need 4 bigs so there is room for Vonleh. Kanter and Favors can still get 30+ mins, with Vonleh and Gobert getting 15. Throw in a little Evans when someone is out a game or gets into foul trouble. I pretty much agree with Catchall's board. If the Jazz don't get top-3 and even the WORST case happens (dropping three spots), we still get a very good prospect. Statistically, the Jazz are most likely to end up in 5th, which means Lindsey probably gets to choose from Randle, Vonleh, Gordon or Smart (assuming Exum goes #4). Or maybe Messina is hired and wants Saric. Dario could move up. He supposedly had a promise last season from Dallas at #13 had he declared.

If there is such thing as a shot-blocking, stretch big, sign me the **** up. If Porzingis or Austin is that guy, you absolutely look into getting that, even if they don't give you much else. I'm not sure that there is one of those in the NBA, and the last one I can think of would be 'Sheed.

Our center that is a wildly overrated defender, athlete, and is practically invisible half the time? Who also gets backed down?
I guess the point is, anyone we draft can improve the team in some area. Jazz have some good, but no GREAT players. I'm almost in favor of drafting a player who's a bit more raw (Embiid, Vonleh) and making sure the team has NO players like Jefferson or Williams on it next season. Get another top-10 player if possible.

There's this guy who leads the NBA in blocks, goes by the name of Serge Ibaka. He's also a more than decent midrange shooter.
