Following potential 2014 draftees

Also, Smith talked to Randle about his abilities potentially at the SF position. Very interesting.

LOL... great minds think alike. Smith is one of the few commentators NBA TV has that I really respect.

Did you remember what Randle said, Orange???

If healthy, I think Randle could provide a Tyson Chandler-like presence at PG for us.

Any truth to the rumor Lindsey will interview him for the role of player-coach?

Genetics, nutrition and Tongans.

Uhh.. it's not about eating habits.

If your genes say that with 1 ounce of fat you eat, you produce 1/2 ounce, then that's you. If on the other hand it says that with 1 ounce of fat you eat, you produce 3/4 ounce, then you've got a problem.

And that's my worry about Jabari. Unless until someone can say with authority that he won't struggle to keep that fat off, then I'm gonna continue to be sceptical.

Uhhhh.... it's so cool when someone starts their argument with "uhhhhh" you know something equally condescending and uninformed is coming up next (how exciting).

So you are saying that genes alone determine the weight of a culture and that cultural habits are irrelevant?

Which explains why americans today have the same body fat as our ancestors. We are made from their genes, ergo we weigh the same (Doh!)

The Polynesians (including the Tongans) that were first seen by James Cook, were just as obese as those of today.

Or....... just MAYBE the Polynesians culture and eating habit have changed over the years as cheaper as their diets have they have abandoned their traditional foods for cheap, easily attained processed foods from the West.

My suggestion: pick up two books, one on nutrition, another on history. Read both and report back.

Uhhhh...... okay?

Even within a single race, with similar eating habits, some people just cannot seem to put on weight, while others always seem to put on weight so easily.

What would you put that discrepancy down to?

NBA Combine Interview - Julius Randle

Steve Smith:

"Julius watching you play, everybody talks about your size your strength, playing with your back to the basket, you being able to rebound and defend. But I was impressed - when you kept the basketball and being able to face up and handle, very comfortable with the ball in your hand and can play almost like a 3 vs a power forward, can you just talk about your development and being able to handle the basketball and be comfortable and be versatile".

Well I'm convinced.

"can't" lose weight

Even within a single race, with similar eating habits, some people just cannot seem to put on weight, while others always seem to put on weight so easily.

That is not a discrepancy at all. Genetics play a part -- it is clearly both nature and nurture. Some people are clearly predisposed to certain body types.

I was just disproving your statement that "its not about eating habits" where you were arguing it is just "nature"

That said "some people can and some people can't" -- well, that can be nature or nurture as well. I had a friend who swore she "couldn't" lose weight despite exercising constantly eating like a bird and could not lose weight. Everyone was like "poor girl has a hormone problem" It was a great story, but I got to know her, have dinners with her and understand her habits (my coffee = her double mocha, sitting on the sofa every night watching TV, dessert with lunch and every meal). She said she "can't" when she was just choosing not to. Put her in a room for a month with <2000 calories per day, she'd lose a ton of weight. If you burn more calories than you consume, you lose weight. Its physics, law of conservation of energy.

This is true. Every single person on the planet can lose weight. Gaining weight might be a different story though.

I want Damien Ingles. I want more defense on this team. followed closely by 3 pt shooting.

I believe that the biggest improvement that you'll see is just based off of schemes.

I really believe that the core players on the team are capable of playing average defense but the schemes the last 3 seasons have been crap.

Thanks again Corbin.
