Following potential 2014 draftees

Vonleh is up to No. 5 in Chad Ford's Big Board.

From Ford: "No one helped his draft stock this week more than Vonleh. He did not participate in the drills, but his measurements (6-9½ in shoes, with a crazy 7-4½ wingspan, a 9-foot standing reach and the largest hands in the draft) combined with excellent athletic testing numbers (he had a 37-inch maximum vertical) gave Vonleh the edge physically over the two players he's competing with (Julius Randle and Aaron Gordon). Combine that with his ability to shoot, rebound and block shots, and I think Vonleh might end up beating both of them as the first power forward taken in the draft."

...Think I might have predicted Vonleh as sneaking into the top 5. I have Randle and Vonleh basically tied for #5 until they do workouts.

I had Vonleh as my #5 before the combine.
Still like him more than Randle. Even after workouts, I think Vonleh has better upside due to his measurements and shooting ability. This is becoming a league of stretch-4's; Vonleh would give us that.
I wouldn't mind a big rotation of Kanter/Vonleh and Favors/Gobert. I'm not going to be too upset if the Jazz drop just one spot in the lottery.

Only downside I see is that Randle can play the 3; I'm not sure if Vonleh can. :D

I don't get the Carmelo hate. He's missed the playoffs ONCE. Who has he ever been paired with? Has he ever had a cast as good as Boozer, Memo and AK?

Why does Carmello get killed and and Love gets praised?

I'd take Carmello any day of the week.

AI, Chauncey Billups, Tyson Chandler, Nene, Amare Stoudemire, Marcus Camby........

Need I go on?

I really only want two players in this draft. Wiggins or Jabari. I have a feeling Dennis Lindsay is going to make the Jabari draft Happen if we don't land the #1 pick and Wiggins.

If we get Wiggins, I hope we get a decent stretch 4 in free agency. That team would be pretty sick

Burke
Hayward
Wiggins
Stretch 4 not named Kanter (Kanter will slow the pace down, I think)
Favors

Or if we draft Jabari, I want to sign Luol Deng to play the 3.

Wow. Really? Those names sound great, but Chauncey was the only one that wasn't a shell of his former self.

Name me one player that made the all star game while he was on the team. I don't think he has ever played with an All Star.

Totally Agree.

I usually don't believe a word PKM says, but as he alluded to yesterday, Randle is going #2 to Philly. Just makes too much sense.

Smart dropped down to #8....

Smart was another player who helped himself with strong measurements and athletic testing. While he measured slightly shorter than he was listed (6-3 instead of 6-4), he had a crazy 6-9 wingspan and measured with a strong 36-inch vertical and a very good 10.82 second lane agility score. For someone who weighed in at 227 pounds, those are great numbers. Smart's interviews were a mixed bag, however. While teams love the passion he brings to the table, they believe his explanation of what happened earlier this past season, when he lost his temper on several occasions, was vague. Look for him to be matched up in lots of workouts with Tyler Ennis, Zach LaVine, Nik Stauskas and Gary Harris.

I agree with the highlighted part. Even if I give him the benefit of the doubt and take away the "N-word" argument, lashing out at a fan calling you a piece of **** is just a really dumb move. Makes you wonder what else he'll lash out at and where are his self controls.

From the ownership perspective, he is just too much of a loose cannon to have on your team.

If LaVine is available at 23 we better pick him up tbh. I doubt he will be though, someone will pull the trigger on that athleticism early.

Smart definitely has some crazy in him. Having said that and while those concerns are probably legit, if Ford's last sentence is correct, I wouldn't want to be Ennis, LaVine, Harris or Stauskas right now.

Imagine if we had finished 7th or 8th in the standings like we were all worried about.

Holy **** we dodged a bullet.

As long as we get a top-4 pick I'm going to be happy.

We get #1, we draft Wiggins.

We get #2, we draft Jabari.

We get #3, we draft Exum.

We get #4, if someone takes Embiid before us we get Exum and vice versa.

If we got #5, there is a slim chance that one of the top-4 would fall, but I could get excited about Vonleh or Gordon or Randle.

The nice thing about Jabari is we could play small ball or big ball with him. We could play him at the 4 with Burks at the 2, or Parker at the 3 and Kanter at the 4. We could adjust to different styles of basketball very well.

I'm the one guy on here who doesn't like Parker, but that's the one thing would give me some comfort if Parker's the guy. If he becomes a decent player, the versatility in term of being able to play the 3 and the 4 for the Jazz could be invaluable as the roster is currently set up. They just don't have that right now and they need it.

I like Wiggins and Burks and Kanter off the bench better. Bring in a defensive C to start and that is a top 5 defense with scorers, shooters, athleticism, length, etc. I like that.

Parker is a 10 time All Star and will be ROY next year. He is a top 15 player right now.

Your only concern with him is finding a defensive big to cover him.

Wiggins can give you both.

I remember thinking 8th as a best case scenario at one point and thinking there was a chance we pick 12th even.

Dodged a bullet for sure
