Following potential 2014 draftees

I'm going to be really angry if DL doesn't give a lot of consideration to Smart because of some perceived "bad community fit".

Amen. I'm legitimately worried about the Jazz passing on him for that reason. If you don't like him as a player, don't take him, but because he might be a bad fit for the area, is ludicrous.

"He can shoot the ball out way past the arc. For a stretch four, that's what you want," said Ryan Blake, senior director of NBA scouting operations

its not just us in the draft thread saying it.

15/25 from 3 in 16 Big10 conference games is fairly prolific.. no?

I'm not going to say he's a good or bad shooter, but sample size, my friend. Sample size.

Having said that, it is all we have, so at this point we kind of have to assume he's a pretty good shooter. I just won't be surprised if that isn't a strength of his as a NBA player.

After analyzing all the data and crunching all the figures I've got the updated LazyD big board (this is the only site where I get any data and numbers fwiw)

1. Wigginz
2. Embiid
3. Parker
4. Exum

5. Vonleh
6. Gordon
7. Smart
8. Randle
9. Jazz 2nd 1st round pick
10. Jazz 2nd round pick

The rankings don't change if the Jazz trade their picks, so they actually might want to hang on to them.

I don't believe in European people.

Get ready for Vonleh folks and folkettes

you're questioning posters faith in his shooting, yet when asked your thoughts on his shooting you've gone and changed the subject.

what indicators have you seen that his shooting isn't up to par? other than a report from 1 workout

This x 10.

so thats it, take a mulligan due to sample size?

**** that

id rather be right or wrong than opinionless

no wonder why so many have cold feet around here when it comes to drafting Exum

removing his 3pt shooting from the discussion. a freshman shooting 72% from the line is a good indicator moving forward especially for someone with gigantic hands, i could be wrong but i think he ends up a "good" 3pt shooter(36%+) and don't see much reason to think otherwise, 3's have been a part of his offensive game for many years now

Did you read my post? I didn't completely discount his shooting just due to sample size. I said it's all we have, so at this point he gets the benefit of the doubt - we have to say he can shoot it. But at the same time, I'm not drafting him because he can shoot. I'm drafting him because of his size, athleticism and rebounding. If he becomes a good shooter for me, bonus.

I love the arch vonleh puts on his shot. it is a slow release though.

I know this will get a lot of negativity but vonleh's offense reminds me of a young Duncan.

I think Duncan is vonlehs ceiling.

I just can't really get excited about drafting a power forward when we have Favors and Kanter.

I said this about five days ago. If we draft Vonleh, I will trust that DL knows what he is doing. With that being said, I want either Smart or Gordon assuming the top-4 stays the same.

Interesting comparison, the posters who've pointed out how Noah's 7.2 field goals attempts should have been more considering his talent and 26.5 minutes would probably like to know that Tim Duncan took 6.3 FGA's per game in over 30 minutes as a freshman, other than tim duncan blocking almost 4 a game, and getting a few more minutes their Freshman stats are very similar

Both are also humble and really smart

Anyone see how SA put a stretch four in tonight, nullified Ibaka, and proceeded to roll the Thunder? This is the new NBA. Whoever we pick better have three point range.

I love that turn around left handed hook shot and banking it perfectly off the back board. using the backboard is a lost talent that vonleh has. (also what Duncan is known for)

I think vonleh and favors will be great.
