Following potential 2014 draftees

Everybody on this board has talked about the importance of swinging for the fences with this pick. Exum fulfills those wishes if we're stuck at 5. It would definitely suck to swing and miss. No doubt.

Exum also got shutdown by Marcus Smart when he played USA. The dude isn't a PG for sure.

This.

In the very little bit they went at each other in the U19 game, Smart looked like an adult going against a jr high kid. Watching that gave me pause.

I'd rather swing and miss, than take a sure thing that's not becoming great.
Look at it this way:
You take Randle, you don't have a single 2 way player, not a single elite scorer. That means no mans land for multiple years and would encourage management to get in some revenue, while telling the fanbase: NEXT YEAR WE CAN MAKE THE PLAYOFFS AND IN 3 YEARS WE CAN MAYBE BE A 4 SEED. Happy Birthday.

You swing and miss, at least you blow up the nucleus and start from scratch. The reset would give a new chance at getting a #1 pick, being more lucky in the lottery. Getting a good position in a multiple superstar prospect deep draft.

Julius Randle in his workout interview for the Jazz said he was hungry. Lol, HotttieKKK has been saying that about him since March.

This.

If we draft Vonleh, I'll eventually talk myself into his upside. But my initial reaction will be that we just drafted someone without fire... at a position we don't need.
I'm also not convinced that his strengths are not similar to the strengths of the players we already have available at the same position.

I heard something today that made total sense to me.

If your going to base your opinion off of one persons opinion then you don't know anything about a player.

I've made my opinion clear on Exum from day one. Long before this came out. This simply supports my opinion. The irony of your comment is that very few people have seen Exum play in real games, most Exum supporters are doing exactly that - basing their opinions on the opinions of others.

Maybe Smart has matured faster then Exum?

It's kinda like that kid in Jr High that has to shave while the rest of us wish we had the problem.

Sorry, I should have clarified. This was not directed at you but at anyone that bases their judgment of a player simply from others.

I know I used to be that way and I'm ashamed of it.

I know people praise Vonleh's athletic ability and ball handling for his size, but I have yet to see him actually blow by his guy and finish strong. He seems to have enough quickness and handles to get his guy on the side, but to never get completely free.

Also seems like he misses a lot of stuff by the rim. And of course can't pass.

I knew most of this, but watching Locke's video reminded me. Locke seems to really love him because of all the tools he has.
