Following potential 2015 draftees

Porzingis with another big scoring, low rebounding game in the Eurocup. 19pts(7/9FG, 3/4 3PFG, 2/4FT), 3rbs, 1ast, 2 stl, 1bl... 5TO... in 25 mins

I wouldn't be shocked if he gets drafted before Towns. We might end up with a reject version of him (Myles Turner)

I don't get why everyone thinks Okafor is the safest thing in the draft. The NBA has changed with most successful teams playing with an empty post. The rules related to playing zone defense in the NBA make it so much easier to double the post. He is a good passer so maybe it will work out well for him. He is also going to have struggles on defense (most rookies will). To me he will be a rich man's Al Jefferson... Has Al even made the all-star team?

I also don't like players that you have to change what you do to accommodate what they do well. Example... if we had Okafor we would likely have to go back to the Alfense style of play.

I think there might be a little nba team group think happening here. Everyone always says to take the big man... the nba is a bit different now. I'd be willing to bet in 10 years that Okafor is not considered the best player from this draft. I'd take him if I was NY or LA and needed someone to build around, but I think many of the other lotto teams would be better off with one of the other high upside options... Russell being first amongst that group. I don't think either player has potential to bust and are thus very safe options. Russell would fit better on many rosters and could be successful playing many different styles of play. If the Jazz were picking number one I would not want them to take Okafor.

I like Porzingis much better... much better athlete, much more mobile, Turner seems to need to be faced up and have the feet set to get off a jumpshot. Porzingis to me seems more versatile, he has a turn around jumper which he gets off with real ease, he even has the turn around bank shot off the glass in the post. I really like him offensively... just wish he had a wider frame...

He's a stretch big like Dirk Nowitzki. Look at Dirk's rebounding averages and you'll get the idea.

Dirk is averaging about 6 boards/game this year, though his career average is 8.

He should be averaging 7-8 rebs per game. We are not expecting him to go after offensive rebounds but he should be getting some defensive rebounds. Did Porzingis even have high-rebounding game? I can't remember.

I don't necessarily disagree with your overall point, but facts are facts. Right or wrong, barring injury or other unforseen circumstances, Okafor is a lock to be taken #1 overall.

This draft is looking pretty deep with Hezonja and Johnson going #8 and #9 in Chad Ford's latest big board.

We should be able to get a good one.

Just a quick glance at the draft right now

New York - Needs everything but to be honest i could easily see them taking Russell #1 he would be a great fit in the triangle offense but Okafor seems to be the pick
Minnesota - If Russell is on the board minny will be so happy. Great fit with Rubio and Wiggins
Philadelphia - needs russell here but I could see them taking either Mudiay or towns here. I would guess that mudiay is the best fit as philly doesnt seem convinced of MCW as the future. But a 3 headed monster of Mudia, MCW and Wroten is interesting but none are known as shooters.
LA Lakers - Pretty much need everything also but Towns is a good fit here. wouldnt be suprised to see Johnson go here though.
Orlando - seems to be at the SF as Harris can play the 4. Gordon is also a combo forward to if need be. I see johnson as the best player available.
Sacramento - Would love it if Towns did slip here. PF is the greatest need and one that will open the floor for Cousins so the logical choice is Porzingis but i could see them taking Turner is he has good work outs hitting the 3. His defense would be an asset with cousins on the floor. Wildcard here WCS so that Cousins could move to the PF and take the easier assignment
Utah - That would give the Jazz a choice of Winslow, Hezonja, Oubre and Looney. I like Hezonja here
Indiana - i think indiana takes Booker here. they need 3 pt shooting. Oubre is an option but i think they stick with less of a head case
Denver - WCS seems like a great fit here

I agree he seems to be the consensus no 1 guy... I don't think he should be. I think there are situations where he should go number 1, but not in every case. I wouldn't take him number one for the reasons previously listed. If Russell's strong play continues the rest of the season I don't think its a lock Okafor goes first. I don't think he is in a different talent tier than Russell... I think Towns has a higher upside and I think his game may translate better... Mudiay, who the hell knows... I think those are the top tier guys.

I might take Okafor #1, but I'd be scared ****less of being the GM who passes on Russell.

I agree.

7th is the lowest we could fall and still like our chances of getting one of them.

I think it depends on where WCS lands. I could see a team in the top 6 liking him... would push either Johnson or Hezonja to 8.

I agree with this for the most part... if you need everything, take Okafor and pray one of these other guys doesn't reach their ceiling. If I am Orlando, Utah, and Philly I don't take Okafor #1.

Not sure if it was mentioned, but Towns was national player of the week last week.

His game is growing quickly.

Loved how Calipari was yelling at the players during the LSU close call.. "YOU DON'T KNOW HOW TO WIN, I HOPE YOU LOSE!".. and said it like 10 times.

I do think he will be good. I was not saying anything about his ability at the next level but that his season statistically has been most similar to Jerryd Bayless.

Although I would put Anthony Davis, Wiggins and Jahlil as more sure thing draft prospects going in to the draft, but thats just me.

My big question is what is the difference between Al Jefferson and Jahlil. I mean, it would seem that Jahlil makes Kanter look like an elite athlete haha

Love me some Towns.

Having said that, I thought you died of a JazzFanz overdose?
