Following potential 2015 draftees

Don't panic if the Jazz sit at #9 or 10 and take Oubre. He would fit right in with our defense, given his length, and has some real offensive upside. It's just a question of how aggressive he wants to be.

He'd at least be that Trevor Ariza or Nic Batum guy we don't really have right now.
Not that Oubre is bad, but with the resources at their disposal, that would be a disappointing draft. Russell, Johnson or Hezonja. Go big, or go home. Gobert, Favors, Hayward and Exum are off the table, but any other combination of players and/or picks (minus the two 2017 picks) should be available for a move up. . . just depends on how high. Put it out there through back channels that the Jazz are looking to utilize their assets, and see who comes calling. Worst case scenario is that the Jazz stay put and just pick the best player on their board.

Would our 2017 pick, our 2016 pick, our 2017 pick, and the 2017 OKC pick be enough for Philly to send us the #2 or #3 pick? What if we added Burke, Hood, and all of Europe (I think we own every Euro prospect in the world)? We could offer it because we would exercise a pick this year... the Philly pick... and we have the 2017 GSW pick unprotected, which makes our pick available. Would you do it for D'Angelo? Would they?

1. You can't trade your 1st round pick two years in a row (2016 and 2017 would be impossible).
2. No, Philly wouldn't do it.

You can if you have another pick you are exercising and we have the 2017 GSW pick.

well point 2 still stands

Bet they would think about it... May even have a meeting about it. I'm not sure id do it if I was the jazz.

No, I really don't think they would. Utah is shaping up to be a very good team by the time those picks happen and even better if they are gift wrapping a top 3 pick to us. It would be a resounding "no".

Fair enough. I would be reluctant to do it from the Jazz standpoint. We might be a playoff team next year, but it will be very difficult to crack the top 8 in the west. One key injury and we are middle of the lotto again.

Anybody think we should have a free agency thread going? Might help us organize our thoughts between drafting and signing.

Rewatching the Jazz game and its remarkable to see Dante is the youngest pg in the State of Utah. List includes Weber St., Utah, BYU, USU.

Dante is 7 months older than D'angelo Russell. This means Dante was 5 months younger at the start of his nba career than D'angelo will be when he starts his.

Ton of RFA's and guys with player or team options. Not much of a list beyond what we've already covered (Matthews, DMC, Middleton and possibly Danny Green as a fall-back plan). Not including Kawhi or Draymond because SA and GS are on record as saying they'll keep them. Same is probably true for Middleton. I actually think Danny Green might be a possibility. We saw Pops getting into it with him. And Green has actually complained a bit about playing heavy mins (averaging 30/per). We could certainly cut that down to 25 or so. In fact, I'd like to see Snyder cut Haywards' minutes. He looks exhausted. Give Hayward and Burks 30 mins each. That leaves 36 to split between the subs (Hood and ?). Ingles and Millsap should only be playing in garbage time. Well, Millsap could be sent in as a defensive harasser if an opponent is hot.

Danny Green is 27 so certainly not old by any means. And with SA looking to max out Kawhi and go after Marc Gasol, I think Green might be the most "gettable" of any wing. Sure we'd love Matthews or DMC, but I'm not sure why those guys would want to leave their current teams.

I think the jazz could trade and get Justin Anderson. he would bring to the table what green does and for a lot less money.

I will say watching a guy like Mirotic does make me a little more interested in someone like Porz.

Yep... and imagine that Porzingis is incredibly athletic to add to the stretch dimension. The thing I am not sure about him is if he has the bball iq and smarts of Mirotic.

Definitely thinking a big with the pick. Much easier to get a wing in free agency. Unfortunately, the PG cupboard is pretty bare so no chance of signing a decent veteran. Outside of Rondo, Lin, Barea and Mo are the best of the UFA's.

We should try to trade up in the 2nd. Philly would probably take both our picks or even a future 2nd. We don't want 3 more rookies on the team.
