Following potential 2015 draftees

I thought this was interesting. Defensive limitations may be an issue with Lyles. Watching the UK/Wisc game, part of the Badgers' strategy was for Dekker to get a step on Lyles and pull defenders out of position. It's interesting to see Looney get by him on the perimeter too, since Looney isn't all that quick either. Lyles has slow legs and some extra weight, a bit like Carlos Boozer.

Just want to take a moment to re-iterate that I like Portis more than Looney or Lyles.

Is Portis such an important player that DX decided to do 2 separate videos for strengths and weaknesseseses?

I wonder how much we can actually read into that.

he has greater length and more advanced offensive game but does he bring the nasty like booker does? I love booker but if the jazz draft a pf I see booker gone.

Not necessarily because both Booker and Portis will be bench guys so the Jazz can play small ball on the second team. I really like Portis and his length will be an asset to him if he has to play center. Jazz can bring Portis along slowly and just pick up Booker's option this year. If Portis pans out then Jazz can trade Booker for some assets. Besides you never pass on a guy because you have a talented guy on the team. You always take best player available.

I like Portis over Kaminsky because of his defensive ability. Frank is taller but I think he will struggle guarding guys.

Portis is okay but I'd take frank and looney before him. His jumper goes in but his mechanics are a bit goofy. I think he'll be a rotation player in the nba but I don't see atom of potential to be much more. Cy also mentioned he played against very few actual big guys other than the Kentucky games.

Looney is obviously my first choice out of the bigs. I go back and forth on Kaminsky/Portis. Right now I kinda lean Kaminsky.

good point

My stance hasn't changed. I think Oubre is going to be at least as effective as Stanley Johnson, and I like Portis ahead of Looney and Kaminsky.

I think there is a very good chance (>50%) the Jazz take a big if they stay at 12: Turner/Kaminsky/Portis/Looney. They'll take the one who a) shoots the best, b) shows work ethic (which they all do), c) can rotate defensively, and d) has the most upside.

Don't be surprised if they take Turner, pending medical clearance.

The Jazz will look at trades or free agency a year out if they need to upgrade at PG. The draft is too much of a crap shoot, and it takes too long to develop young PGs.

I would be very surprised is the jazz took a pg. 3 years in a row the jazz aren't the wolves and don't have Kahn as a gm. besides I think burks would be great on the second team at pg and sg.

I could see the jazz look at booker completely. he is the best pure shooter in the draft. he would be a great addition to the team. oubre's defense is very good and has a chance to fit in but he needs more development. bookers shooting translates immediately.

as far as wings I would love to see any of Winslow, hezonja or johnson on the team but I wouldn't give up hood to get any of them. I could see the jazz look at a trade here to bring in a vet like Batum or Harrison. Batum seems the most logical choice.

booker is one of my favorite players but a quality stretch 4 is a need. portis, turner, looney and even kaminsky would be good choices here. with tomic being an arse and pleiss still need some development I see this as the most logical choice for the jazz. I think measurements will be huge for those guys.

I don't see the jazz being very aggressive in the offseason. they might look at a vet back pg but in cotton and exum they have 2 decent players although young. I don't think Burke has a future for the jazz.

they might look at a 3rd center off the bench in free agency also.

If you're watching the Spurs/Clippers game and notice the impact that Matt Barnes is having (aside from being ugly), that's almost exactly what Kelly Oubre would be doing, except Oubre rebounds better.
