Following potential 2015 draftees

I really, really love Frank the Tank. With that said, Tomic is probably a top-10 passing center in this planet right now (and that's being generous).

If we think Frank is BPA, then you take him, no questions asked. We can cut-ties with Booker, and sign Tomic to a tradeable contract.

With that said, I would prefer drafting a three-point gunner that can D up, while snagging Tomic from Europe. We need a Danny Green more than we need a gunner at the 5.

Agree.
If Utah could get a legit shooting threat at the 4, Favors and Gobert could still start, but the stretch-4 could get 30 mins+, with Favors sliding to the 5 when Gobert is out. I think that's the direction Utah needs to go with the bigs.

Still think our #1 problem is at PG. Not sure how Utah fixes that in free agency or via the draft.

Good discussion going....

I really like Hezonja and think he can be very similar to Klay Thompson, and better offensively in some respects (e.g., cutting and finishing at the rim). One big question with the Jazz is what Rodney Hood is going to be. His numbers as a rookie overall aren't great, but he's had some nice shooting games recently. The Jazz have to decide whether he's viable as a starter going forward. I still like Hezonja more than Winslow for the Jazz, though I like them both, and if Hezonja comes into reach the Jazz should pounce.

If we're talking about a back-up big to spell Favors at the PF and stretch the floor, then I'm okay with any of Looney, Portis or possibly Lyles and would be ecstatic with Porzingis. I don't really believe Kaminsky will play PF much. His mobility is good for a 7-footer, but I don't think he'll keep up with most PFs in the league. He's better off playing center and would be a very good back-up, replacing much of what we lost with Kanter offensively, though he's not the same rebounder.

I think the Jazz are going to bet on Exum developing as a PG. They're in good shape if he pans out anywhere near expectations. With Hayward on the floor, it will continue to take pressure off of Dante.

If the Jazz can come away with Hezonja, Porzingis or Winslow, the draft will be a resounding success.

If not, then Johnson, Oubre or Looney would still be a win in my book.

I think Andrew Harrison endorses Kaminsky in the draft.

But it's amazing how people drink the Kool-Aid when a player has a good NCAA run. Example: the Trey Burke hype was pretty mediocre until the tournament began and as it progressed a lot of us became obsessed with drafting Burke.

Yet, oddly enough, Hayward didn't garnish a lot of support pre-draft after the tournament. I know some forum posters wanted him but not a lot of people had him as their first choice.

Though I will add slaying the Kentucky dragon is very impressive.

There is FAR more watching of prospects by Jazzfanzers than there was at that time. Things would be way different now.

best hedge ever tbh

Agree with almost everything you ever say. Just a head's up, though.. Frank won't measure 7'. Neither will Towns for that matter.
WCS may measure taller than 7'.. but not a need as much as a stretch.

Question about trading picks. If Jazz trade up, can they use their 2016 pick or would that be trading 2 1st round picks in a row? Technically they would be trading prospects, and the team they trade up with will be picking for the player right?

How much higher could they get in this draft by trading the 2016 pick if they are at #10? How about #12? I think it would be harder to move up from 12 as there is a drop off after the top 10 in this draft. Teams may be more willing to trade knowing they will still get a top 10 pick.

You are a great poster that just strung together some words that are, uncharacteristically, indiscernible.

but I'm kinda drunk tho, so..

Edited to try to make more sense. I'm not drunk, and don't drink, but sometimes I leave out details and may sound that way.

Tomic fits the Diaw mould far better than Frank does.

Diaw buzz-sawed the Heat because of his passing-prowess-- not because of his very pedestrian volume of three-point shooting.

Also, hilarious that you bring Bonner up-- he averaged 6.1mpg in the postseason last year.

Nah I think Frank is more Diaw than Tomic is. Diaw can dribble drive from the perimeter, he just isn't a stationary post/high post passer like Tomic is.

I think it's reasonable to have doubts about Tomic being able to translate to the NBA. If he can't develop some sort of post-game due to his lack of strength then he is going to struggle to do anything he normally does in Europe.

No idea where it gets us though... Anywhere from 6-9 would be worth it IMO.

Imo it wasn't the dribble drives that killed the Heat, it was his stationary passing prowess. Tomic provides that more than Frank does.

Fair. I figure he'll be fine. Probably a Luis Scola type career (start on bad teams, solid backup on good teams).

Edit: I stand corrected-- I forgot how good Luis Scola was when he first joined the NBA. Tomic most likely will never put up numbers that good unless he goes to a different team.

What's nice about Tomic's game is that it'll probably age very well. Homeless man's Pau Gasol.
