Following potential 2015 draftees

Breaking: Kevon Looney has just declared for the draft.

Good news as I think the reports were he was on the fence and without a good showing in the tourney.. him declaring should bolster the draft somewhat.

Looney must be getting feedback that he really is lottery or mid-first round.

Lets say the Jazz win 46 or 47 games next year. Our draft pick is likely to be #17 - #19 in a weaker draft. This is probably our last lottery pick for a while.

On the flip side though that pick is gonna have a pretty low value.. it's a future pick + it likely won't be in the lottery. So I don't know if we'll get its full value worth by trading it 'now'.

Okay here's the play: Jazz offer Hood + #10 (or #11) to Sacramento for #6 or #7. Jazz draft Winslow or Hezonja. Sacto gets Hood + Turner/Looney/Johnson/...or the top PG. Sacto needs a PG, a shooting wing and a PF who can shoot.

If I'm giving up Hood in a deal, I want Russell or Towns. Based on what little I know of Hezonja, I'd rather have Hood. Winslow is a different kind of player, but Hood and 10 or 11 is too steep, IMO.

This is what it's going to take for the Jazz to get someone with star potential. Besides, if we bring in a wing in this draft, we'll have a log-jam. If I were Sacramento and Porzingis were off the board, I would take this deal. Hood just lit me up, and I like Turner next to Cousins going forward.

I dunno.. I kinda like Hood. Decent defense. Pure shooter. Great guy in the locker room and on the court. Good character. He's one of those guys you need to have on your team IMO.

I don't know when Grayson Allen will come out for the draft, but when he does, I want him. Kid just draws fouls like none other.

A white Dwyane Wade maybe?

I will quit being a Jazz fan. He has a terrible case of whiny face that just makes me hate him irrationally.

Okafor is such a bad defender.

I'd take him 3rd tbh.

I don't disagree.

He seems like the type that is going to be really good, but does he take over games and win them for you? He hasn't seemed to do that in the tournament. Towns did it. Russell has done it all year. Winslow has been doing it. I think that's an important thing to note!

I like your thinking but I agree I like hood I would rather give away a couple picks

Hood is better than any of those guys. Rodney could EASILY be an 18/per scorer. He's a better outside shooter than Hayward and, IMO, is better at creating his own shot. Gordon is stronger, finishes better and has the drop-step jumper that is hard to defend (of course, Gordon has to start making them). We need players to stretch the floor and Hood is the BEST player on the team to do that...despite his early struggles shooting the 3.

I would ONLY include Hood in a package to get Russell. Perhaps Mudiay, but I haven't seen enough of him to know. And, of course, Towns or Okafor.

I think you guys are forgetting how hard it is for a guy to score when the defense has a gameplan against them. Hood hasn't gone through that yet. Now I'm not saying he isn't good, but remember how much Hayward struggled the first year that happened to him? I hope Hood continues to play this well, because it opens things up for other players. I also think it would be foolish to trade him, we desperately need his outside shooting!

With that said, Hayward is basically averaging 20/5/4...he's better than we think he is.

I like Hezonja more than Hood because his faster, has a better first step, is more athletic and has a quicker release. When you're trying to get from 45 wins to 55 wins, it's these incremental improvements that matter.
