Following potential 2015 draftees

Both DX and Chad Ford think Myles Turner and Kelly Oubre are slated in the 10 - 13 range. Assume the Jazz will take a long look at both those guys.

Apart from his potential long term health issues, I really like Myles Turner.

- I like the fact also that he knows his strength (long, but less athletic), and he's modelling his game after the former Longhorns, LaMarcus Aldridge - focussing on the face up game, flashing to the high post and hitting that jumper over smaller defenders. You don't actually have to be elite athletically when you've got that long game.

- Great defender one of the best shot blockers in college. Should fit right in with Favors & Gobert.

- Legit 7 footer.

- Already has a 3pt range.

- He also has the right character for our group - he nearly brought me to tears with that segment about his 'sister'. I think he will fit right in our humble group.

I really like him for our pick if his knees or whatever issues he has with running checks out.

17-62 from three this year, 27.4%..

For a PF that's not too shabby. Plus he should improve on that in Quin's system with more spacing & encouragement.

Also look at his FT percentage - 84%. That tells me he has good mechanics & soft touch.

I agree, it's not the best, but hey Booker developed a three-point shot this year after going 1-10 in his four years before Utah.

Exactly.

Obviously Quin is even encouraging Favors to shoot it next year too. Turner already has that shot, he just needs to improve upon it. Obviously not thing is guaranteed, but it will be less difficult a transition.

I keep going in circles. I wish we were picking a bit earlier. I think Oubre is a good pick. I also think the Jazz would be the 'right situation' for Portis or Lyles. Looney is also reasonable, but might not be available.

Of the guys that I think will be there Oubre has the most potential. I'm not a big fan but at 11 or 12 beg gets can't be choosers.

I liked turner when his shot was falling but I'm not convinced he will be a good defender... He gets some blocked shots but overall I think he'll get killed in PnR and post up. I think he is a few years away and will need court time to develop.

I didn't like Looney when we were projected at 6 or 7 but at this point in the draft he'd make some sense... If he is aminu with a jump shot that's not a bad player.

I'd be happy with lyles although if the top 9 guys and kaminsky are gone I might consider trading back if we could pick up assets along the way... Draft seems pretty flat from 11-20.

I guess the question is--how to rank the following:

Looney, Oubre, Turner, Portis, Lyles

It's not real clear to me yet.

Add booker and poeltl to that group... It is an eye of the beholder group.

I think I'm full circle back to wanting us to keep our pick. I started off wanting us to keep the pick, then at some point I wanted us to trade it, but the more I think about it, the more I feel like the best option is to just keep it and get another lottery level talent. We will not be contenders next year with or without whatever we can trade the pick for. At the same time if we trade it for a PG/SG that would mean slowing down Dante's or Rodney's development, less minutes for them, less responsibility, less opportunities to improve in in-game situations. The only possible way I want us to trade it is if we are getting a long-term key piece and I doubt many such deals are available.
Quite honestly I think I'm good with a lot of the options that are going to be available for us. I wouldn't even mind if we combined a couple of picks in order to jump to getting some of the better shooting talents in the draft(Russell if he drops, Hezonja, etc.)... but I think that's probably the option that's least possible of all.

Hezonja if we trade up

Oubre if we stay put

Both have a lot of upside and i think would fit in well.

I dont want a role player with this pick. We can get a 7th-15th guy on the bench in free agency for reasonable price, that will contribute way more than any rookie will. I want a potential starter/star with our last lottery pick ever!

Plus he just turned 19. He's going to get stronger, improve his shooting and develop more skills. I like his game and think he's far from reaching his actual potential. He also plays smart for a 19-year-old big.
