What's new

Following potential 2015 draftees

Hayward - 35 mins
Burks - 30 mins
Hood - 25 mins.

Jingles and Millsap fill in as needed. Hood doesn't need to be a starter.

There is a new movement in the NBA that's been getting more and more traction in the last few years and from what I've heard there is a serious push from medical personnel of the teams about it - limiting the minutes of your best players and not playing them into the ground - it assures both more freshness come playoff time and extending players' careers, also minimizes the risk of some types of injuries. For example, in 2002 there were 24 players that played more than 3000 minutes in the season, and that number has been steadily declining ever since and this is the first year where there is no player in the league that have played 3000 minutes. I think this trend will continue and we'll see players taking even lower load in the future. In general what that means is that teams will most likely need a regular rotation of at least 4 wings, at least 4 bigs, etc. and the times of giving all wing minutes to 3 players is over. The Spurs, like with many other things, have been the pioneers and have tried to keep their starters below 32MPG in the last several season. The Hawks are another team trying to do something similar... and as we know our coaching staff is from that Spurs/Hawks coaching tree, so I think they will probably try to do something similar in the following years. That, along with injuries, resting, etc. will probably require us to get a 4th wing to get regular(rather than spot) minutes, even if not many(say 10-12MPG).

You're not sold on Ingles as our 4th wing? I like having him around.

He won't be the worst 4th wing in the NBA, but if we want to contend at some point I feel like he needs to be more of a end-of-bench/spot minutes/injury insurance guy...

Problem is with how well he has played this year I don't know if he'd wanna be a 'spot minute' type guy. Other teams might be interested this offseason... we'll have to make a decision.

BTW, I have to fess up and tell you I've been falling in love with Poeltl as the year progressed. If we don't bring Tomic, I think I'd be totally OK with picking Poeltl and developing him behind Rudy. He's nowhere near ready, but he's really intriguing for me long-term...

Yeah for me it's Turner. If his knee/foot issues checks out I'm game.

Not many people can bring me to tears like he did.

I'm liking Dunn's upside. He should definitely be in play with our pick.

I was the one that started the Dunn hype train here and I'm still very high on him. From the second tier PGs I think he's the one with best potential. I don't really think we need a PG, but if we were to pick a PG, I'd definitely prefer it to be Dunn! Such an exciting and flashy player. I think he can fix the TO problem, I asked some Providence fans about it and some of them suggested that a lot of those TOs were because of inability of his teammates to control creative, yet on point passes. They believe having better talent around him automatically will drop his TO rate by a significant number. And as I've said before here I think TOs #s are really one of the last things one should take against young PGs who are still learning their craft and learning what is a good play and what is not. I think he'd be fine with the appropriate coaching and better talent around him.

Even if Exum busts, I think Dunn/Burks could be a very dynamic, athletic future backcourt.

Honestly not sure who my first choice would be at #12.

I don't think there are many guys I'd be upset with. I'll trust the FO. They've been doing very well in the draft lately.
