Not particularly true. I'm just saying the #12 and a lottery protected pick or #12 and the unprotected golden state pick would be enough.

It may be, but I personally would be OK with giving up both. I don't see a lot of value in the GS pick right now, its not looking much better than a second rounder. Maybe they throw 1-2 of those in instead of giving up both. Who that was picked 8-14 that year would end up in the lottery this year (with how they were projected at the time)?

Oh I see a chance for a fun excercise....somebody do a mock of this years draft assuming all of the 2013 draftees are also included as prospects. Tia

The trouble is, taking out what we have already seen from the players. Burke would still go in the teens in this draft if nobody had seen him play in the pro's, but he'd probably go undrafted after his first 2 years.

You guys know I'm a big Frank fan (everytime I insert Frank in a sentence it sounds kinda like I like dudes), but I'm liking the Turner pick more and more. I think he is a better asset, but i think he might not be a good long term fit as I think he won't be quick enough to guard 4s and will likely need to be a backup center.

Turner could get the 10-12 minutes per night that Jack Cooley was getting, which would be an appropriate role for a developing rookie. If he shows flashes his trade value could sky rocket. We might be able to use him to acquire talent at a greater position of need. If he struggles it doesn't kill his trade value because he's viewed as a long term project. I think I like Turner as an asset a little more than Frank as a player if that makes sense. The NBA pays a premium for upside... if a guy like Turner shows enough glimpses he becomes a much more valuable asset than the #12 pick.

I would still be happy with Frank, but I'm not sure if he comes in and is a better contributor than Booker on day one. He's more mature than most players and closer to being ready, but I think 3rd big on a really good team might be a role that is a bit too big for him first year. He will have an adjustment period like all rookies, especially on defense. I think he'd be a better long term fit than Turner because his offensive game is more diverse and I think he's faster laterally than Turner so he can play 4 alongside Gobert.

I have them as a coin flip right now.

A little different than what I felt a couple weeks ago, but I still think Okafor is a little overrated in most mocks.
 
Just watched the DX D'Angelo Russell workout video and got really sad. Please don't take him Lakers... I want to continue liking him even if he's not a Jazz player.
 
I think the Jazz could put together plausible deals to move up to 10, 9 or 8, using 12, future picks, 2nd-rd picks and cap relief.

If Detroit likes Kaminsky, Lyles or Portis to replace Monroe, I could see a deal that involves 12 and Burke. That nets them PG insurance to replace Augustine and a good PF prospect. So lets say the deal is 12 + Burke for 8 and a throw-in to match a bit of salary. Maybe Jazz take back a 2nd-rd pick. Jazz take Porzingis or Johnson at 8. Jazz then look at FAs to play back-up PG. Part of Burke's value is his room to grow and low salary.

I think that's a good deal both ways.

I think Detroit might want to offload Brandon Jennings contract... He tore his Achilles, but is young and showed improvement before his potentially career ending injury.

If thats all it takes I'm in. I'd include that OKC pick too if need be. I'm just not sure how much value Burke has right now. My guess is it is at its all time low.

Knowing what we know now? Or not? Because Giannis and Schroeder went a few picks later. MCW probably could be, McCollum has played pretty good now. If we try to forget what we know then it's a lot harder to say...

The idea here is that the Jazz probably value Porzingis more than Detroit, and that's what motivates a deal. Denver could snatch him, but they could equally go for Winslow or Hezonja if either is there. If Porzi gets past Denver, the Jazz may have a shot at him at 8 or 9.

I understand... was trying to say that Detroit may have interest in dumping the BJ contract as part of the deal to move down.

Yeah, I'm not arguing. Just emphasizing that Detroit has been reportedly open to moving their pick. They're in win-now mode and might like Portis or Kaminsky as much as Porzingis or Johnson in this draft.

Not knowing what we know now. You would have to take what was thought of them before the draft. Burke/McCollum/MCW are all probably later than Grant and Payne this year. Hard to say though, cause Burke was dang good in college, but is just so short and slow for an NBA PG. Booker is well above McCollum as a shooter as well. Frank and Olynyk are comparable, but I don't remember Olynyk getting near the hype of Frank the Tank. Adams was nowhere near the prospect that WCS/Turner are.

I could be having selective memory, but I just don't see any of the 2013 I listed getting drafted before 15.

Admittedly, I valued Burke much more then than I do Grant now, but that was on an individual basis for the Jazz and current needs. I think they probably stack pretty similar in terms of how they project before the draft.
 
Detroit fans would likely offer 8 for 12 + Hood. I'd guess this assumes Winslow or Hezonja are off the board.

Detroit might like Portis, Lyles or Turner to start next to Drummond, whereas they'd be back-ups in Utah. Jazz would move up for Porzingis or Johnson. There's some synergy here.

Jazz would try to keep Hood out of the deal, and this would be the point of contention.
