Following potential 2015 draftees

11 pts, 4.6rbs, 1bl, 1stl, 0.5ast in about 21MPG.
What was his competition like? Grown men with nba ability? Or high school age dudes?

This post is an attempt to exorcise my draft anxiety. Indulge me.

I'm nervous about picks 5-11. (I figure KAT, Porz, Russell, and Okafor go top 4).

5 - Orlando could use a defensive big: WCS
6 - Sacramento could use a defensive big: Turner (I'm pissed)
7 - Denver needs a wing: Hezonja
8 - Detroit needs a wing: Johnson
9 - Charlotte needs outside shooting: Booker?
10 - Miami - needs wing: Winslow
11 - Indiana needs either a PG or a fast big: Mudiay
12 - I'm disappointed but Looney is a great consolation prize. Trade down and grab him. Or just to be sure grab him now.

So looking at my fears I have Winslow and Mudiay falling to 10 and 11. Am I crazy? I hope I am.
Lots to disagree with here.

Trey Lyles came across as not really trying. Much like his game its almost too light, too effortless. His interview really said I don't really care where I go.

Just too relaxed for my tastes. Im sure i could look at it like hes just quiet, and could be a good team player. I just came across not wanting him. If it was a job interview I would not hire him. No passion. No energy. It was the same feeling I got from watching him in college. Too smooth, too soft.

That;s been about everyone's reaction, particularly starting at 48 seconds

The shot is great, but it's how well he moves that impressed me. I'd love to find a way to move up and pick him.

Anyone think Dakari Johnson will end up a useful role player in the NBA?
Will he? Not sure. Can he? No doubt. With his size and offensive ability, if he's willing to work, keep himself in shape and then get an opportunity, I think he can be very effective. I'd be fine with the Jazz taking him in the 2nd. Could be a nice compliment to Gobert and Favors. Low risk, potential high reward.

It's hard to take Dakari seriously when on one of his most important "job interviews"(the combine) he came totally out of shape with record high body fat%, and it all seemed to reflect on his athleticism testing results - combine worst in the history max vertical(after actually recording pretty nice vert at the UK pro day in the fall), 2nd worst in history no-step vert, botton 5 in history sprint time, etc... I have no idea what the reason is... but this doesn't strike me as someone really striving to succeed...

(unless he's been hurt or something in the meantime and hasn't been able to work at all, but I haven't heard anything of that sort)...

Crazy some of these guys can't at the very least, keep in shape at least long enough to get a contract, then pull a Shawn Kemp.

BTW it's interesting that Turner's agent has arranged workouts for him with all teams in the 7-12 range and the Jazz are the last one. I haven't heard anything about him working out for other teams. According to reports journalists are impressed by Turner and how well prepared he was. This is not surprising to me, Turner is very bright kid and all-around great person. He was able to answer questions with details about Jazz' roster and how exactly he'd fit in. Seems like 1. he's well prepared, 2. seemed to have cared a lot and wanted to impress here.

Here's his interview:

Walt Perrin seems to think he can guard some 4s but not all. I'd still love if we managed to land him...

I was looking for that video, he seems like a very mature and real top-notch human being and that's in his teens:

He seems like a phenomenal kid. Physically gifted and a hard worker. I like him... I don't see him playing much four though. I think the only guys I don't like for us in our are Payne and Grant. Think I can talk myself into just about anyone in the top 15.
