Gsw's puck could be a high 20's to 30th pick. Is 2017 that deep?

that HS class (2016) looks very strong, dunno about how it will translate to the bottom of the 2017 first round. but I wouldn't be surprised if there were some pretty good PG's available in that range like the '09 draft.

Unless Hayward leaves, I'm not sure that the Jazz use either pick in 2017. My expectation is that they go "All in" and trade their future assets for whatever they determine is the missing piece after another year and a half of development. Depending on when the OKC pick gets conveyed, they could have 4 picks in 3 years (including at least one unprotected pick) that they can include.

The fact that there is no one(or at most very few) that would argue with Towns at no. 1 and plenty that would argue with Okafor no. 1 should tell you enough.

Who would you target at #8?

I would rather;

Completely trade away our #12 for a pick within that range in '17. That would give us 3 firsts in '17 and a chance to get a franchise player that year. There are no players outside of the top 4 this year that really excite me.. and none at all that really, REALLY excite me.

That would be really hard to ensure. Hard to predict what will happen 2 years in the future. The best way to do it is to trade with a team that has 2 or more picks that year already and make the trade conditional on getting the best out of their picks. But I agree, if that draft is anything close to what it's hyped to be, it's worth to have as many immediate assets available as possible that year.

New scout 2017 updated rankings. Wendell Carter has moved up to #2! Once upon a time i asked PKM about this guy, said he reminded me of Karl Malone, and he didnt know who he was Now hes got a UK offer!


This class is crazy though. 6'11" Mohamad Bamba playing in Harlem recently measured a 7'8" wingspan. I hope UK doesnt get in on Billy Preston too late.

That makes sense. They tend to like older, more developed prospects (although that could just be a side effect of where they've drafted as well.)
