Following potential 2015 draftees

K3 trolling.. wuts this world come to??

@BTP
1) some of what u said certainly has merit and is a reality year in and year out.. however, UK'S haul next year is only down by UK's standards, but epic by everyone else's standards... so PJKino's observation needs to be taken in that context. (That's not being defensive about it either.. we're entitled to having a down year.. I'm just stating its hardly down at all.)
2) one reason Cal took Ullis (in addition to him being good) is the '15 class has ZERO PG's currently ranked in the top 30 players (pure points, not combo guards) and he would like to have a multi-year PG to lessen the sting of their being no elite floor generals in that year. (We'll get Malik Newman and he's awesome, but a combo).

Maybe it's also to provide a little bit more long term stability with Ullis. Having a PG who knows exactly how the coach wants him to take care of the ball certainly can help make the transition for others easier and lead to more success?
From what I always heard Mudiay is the closest thing to a pure point in the '14 highschool class. I don't know if he dislikes having score first and pass if you don't get a good look PG, cause I can't remember a single pass first PG since his Memphis days.

Those that have been here longer know that I warned several years back of a major impending PG drought.
Going back to '09.. Wall wasn't exactly a pure PG (though wildly talented). In fact, Irving is about the closest player to resemble a pure PG... there just haven't been any/many, at all.
Cal like pure points, but if they're not there they're not there.

As for Mudiay.. immensely talented but Tyus Jones is the more pure PG. Tyus is definitely a pure PG (though Mudiay is better overall).

Maybe the game is also shifting so much that it's more important to have 5 willing passer with basic court vision than one elite passer and 4 others who try to find holes in the defense. Right now other than Paul and Rondo there is probably no PG who's looking to pass first and a perennial all star candidate.

Maybe.

Cal (not saying he knows it all, only quoting) always says he wants to put 5 guys on the floor that can all dribble, pass, shoot, and rebound.. all as long as possible... and ONE OF them being a PG. He doesn't care too much about a true center or any other position. Just 5 ballers and one to direct the show.

Yep that's how I look at it too. You simply need one person who has better handles than his defender pickpocket skills to bring the ball up the court in 95 out of 100 halfcourt possessions. It can be even your PF. What the others gonna do? They send a smaller defender to disrupt the dribbling you make a smart pass with maybe 1 backscreen to help create seperation and you can achieve dislocation of the defense for the whole possession and can either abuse a mismatch or simply turn it into early offense resulting in a higher offensive efficiency.
Still I'm a BIG fan of PGs with elite court vision, who can make everyone better as long as he possesses basic BBIQ. I even tend to downplay shortcomings of these players in scoring. Just think it's not necessary to win.

I view a true PG as simply an extension of the coach on the floor. Someone who understands the plays, spacing, where everyone needs to be, etc. Calipari even let's his guys sub themselves once they really understand his game plan. Two years ago you would see MKG subbing himself out and pointing to the bench to bring in who he knew was needed in the game based on what he was experiencing.. same with Brandon Knight.

There just needs to be that one guy that just completely understands the game completely. That was a terrible problem for UK last year.
Harrow was an idiot.
Goodwin is talented but far from cerebral.
Poythress is very smart, but simply wasn't ready.
.. we just had no leader at all.

You're often speaking very highly of Brandon Knight. Why do you think he's having so much trouble to be effective in the NBA?

Actually that's not true. I only speak of his intellect with high regard. I cautioned against taken him too highly in the draft because he lacks speed/first step/athleticism.
I believe those are the reasons he's not doing more.

Maybe I should test for Alzheimer's ;)

Btw, Kenan also played in this game and made his first basket against an NBA team, he was nervous but decent.

This 18 year old Dane got going early in the Spanish ACB. See yourself, but I like what I see. Keep in mind he's not playing against other NCAA rooks, but real pros on a high level.

Two top 10 SG's in this class announce their college choice today.

James Blackmon
and
Devin Booker

Both are prolific shooters/scorers.. lights out.

I am hearing Blackmon to UK and Booker to Missouri... but tons of misdirection (my opinion) and this is not a situation where I have inside info that I "know" what the announcement will be.

^That's one of the (or two of the) scenarios.

If I'm saying what I REALLY think.. It's both to UK.
