What's new

Following potential 2015 draftees

So UK played the same Puerto Rican team we played a couple days ago. Their coach, in a pregame interview stated that his team had underestimated UK the first time around (25pt loss) and assured his guys came ready for this game.

UK won this one by 36. Looked like the Harlem Globetrotters.. the lobs and PnR were mind-blowing.

The real test will be Friday against the Dominican National Team with Al Horford, Francisco Garcia, and a couple other NBA vets. I expect our young bigs to get schooled by Al. (reminder we're playing without WCS and Trey Lyles)

Leading scorers today;

Poythress - 15
Lee - 14
AaHarrison - 13

I believe Poythress is now the leading scorer through these first 3 games.

Best I can do.. halftime snapshot of a boxscore from scorers table. At least you can see the names.
Wow, that's great PKM, thanks.

To be honest, there are only two players I've known, one is Mark Payne who was in PAOK last year, and the other is Chalemers who played one season(12-13) in Turkey with Aliağa. But other than those two, I think there are bunch of American players with some college and Euro experience. Butler and Chalmers are even drafted in second rounds.

And I've heard the Chalons Reims team for the first time. Apparently they were in the second pro division in French league but they are just promoted to the Pro A league this year. Butler, Payne and Chalmers are their new transfers to try to cling in the first division.

So nevertheless, 20+ pts over a top second division French team is pretty damn impressive.

Watched the game today. Have to say that I was very impressed with Tyler Ullis and Derek Willis.

Of course the returning guys played great, but out of the new guys those two played the best, imo.

Love the way Ullis pushes the ball and makes the right pass. Read a pick and roll nicely and hit an open 18-foot jumpshot. A perfect backup point guard and would be a starter on almost every other team in the country. There will be no drop off at the point guard position when he comes in. Don't get me wrong Andrew Harrison is a great player, I think they complement eachother nicely.

Willis is a high energy player. Made the right decisions and just played well. Finished around the basket and had a nice left-handed (his off hand) alley-oop lob that was right on point. Cal actually says he throws a better lob pass with his left compared to his right. That's always good news to hear about a big man. All in all impressed me with his hustle/motor as well as his finishing and passing.

Will rep for this post and watching.

Perhaps, but Jahlil Okafor, Justise Winslow and Tyus Jones are dreamy.

And then there's that Plumlee…dammit man.

Haha.. sucks. Game has passed K on... errybody knows it. Sooner duke fires him and shuts the program down the more of their past they're able to maintain as a measure of legacy.

That's not why I posted, but thanks for the rep.

I found it interesting that Cal said he thinks/wants 7-8 players from this team could get drafted.

I actually agree with him.

An. Harrison
Aa. Harrison
Poythress
WCS
Towns
Lyles
Ullis
Johnson

Are all potential guys who could get drafted this year. Plus the other guys on the team, one thing though, I doubt Ullis would leave for the NBA after this season knowing he is undersized and he would go in the 2nd round.

A lot would have to happen, obvi.. win a vast majority of their games (go 37-3 or 36-4) + win a National Championship + the bench players show potential/play well on the court.

Not out of the realm of possibility though, considering there is a 2nd round of the NBA Draft.

No coach listed for UK. Did he resign?

I actually watched part of the game. Was flipping through the channels and nothing else was on worth watching. UK was pretty impressive, even without WCS.

So Calipari was just joking/lathering up opponents with faux respect about you guys going 0 for this trip right? I was just looking over team Dominica:

https://www.fiba.com/basketballworldcup/2014/Dominican-Republic#|tab=roster

and most of their guys are pros......in South America.....and they even have a few cast offs from American colleges that aren't playing pro anywhere. No way you guys lose. And no way did any sane person ever pick you guys to lose on this trip.

First, not many coaches say something along the lines of, "we should win these games."
Secondly, you just have no idea how guys are going to come together and play in August (when most years college practices can't even begin until October).
Thirdly, Calipari is king of hyperbole.

So yeah... UK beat Dominican Republic. Poythress with 20/10 in 19 minutes. Hes become awesome.
I was at the game. Poythress had 5 rbs but he was indeed very good.

And I just snatched a copy of the boxscore paper from one of my friends at the scorers table.
