Following potential 2015 draftees

According to dx:
For Beasley recorded a 9'1 standing reach at hoop summit and 8'11 at the draft combine. That's one of the biggest disparsities that I could find but I don't think it's phenomenal since there's length differences when you're up mutliple hours(It could be 1 inch from morning -> evening and another 3/4 of an inch from extra insoles in shoes and then Hoop Summit may have rounded it up(Haven't found a single quarter inch accurate measurement)

Damn.. sorry bro

I like Porz talent, but physically he looks like AK. Looks like a guy who is going to be rail thin with chicken legs his entire career and is going to be soft as *** on defense when he can't block shots.

He IS a shot blocker right now in Europe.

Damn.. sorry bro

You know an extra inch every now and then might not be a bad thing ;)

But since stitches already took interest in it. When I was a kid and I wanted to measure my height in the evening my mother would always say: Do it in the morning, you're taller then.
And apparently our spine contracts over the course of a day up to 1 inch from walking upright. Maybe that's why most players take naps before games ;)

If we're going to draft a post player, it would be asinine to draft them based on how they would play with Rudy.

1) We're going to be an early lottery team. Draft the best talent available.
2) If the talent is similar (for post players), you realize that they'll be playing next to Favors.
3) Favors > Rudy. And I like both of them.
4) If we draft a post, it has to be somebody who can play C, because Favors can't guard centers effectively.

@BTP I remember Michael Beasley's standing reach of 9'1'' at hoop summit from years back. At the time I was certain it simply cannot be true... At the NBA combine it turned out to be several inches shorter. Maybe I've just remembered this case and have formed an unfair opinion about the hoop summit's measurements. If you say that the ones you've seen have all been accurate, then I stand corrected. But still in this case with Towns it is weird to see a difference of 4 inches. That's huge... I wonder who is correct. I wonder if he's even going to go to the NBA combine. Last year the top 3 didn't go...

He's gonna be a beast.

Surprisingly Burks seems to have taken a small step forward last night VS the Spurs. He was composed. He attacked when he needed to and he hit long range shots. May be he is in fact our answer at SG and with Hayward doing so well at SF, that's a solid lineup already. Hood coming off the bench seems to be doing a decent job as well. Like somebody else here mentioned, it wouldn't be hard to sign a defensive wing in FA.

On that basis I would probably take OKAFOR, TOWNS, PORZINGIS and even MUDIAY before I take Johnson/Winslow/Herzonja.

Well obviously, ANYONE would take Okafor, Towns or Mudiay: right now they're the consensus top-3 guys. My assumption is that we're picking lower. So it appears Porzingis might be #4 on your draft board?

Between the Euroleague play and ACB this year, Porzingis is at 44% on 3PT percentage. Lots of high def game footage on Youtube, but no highlight videos made yet. Here are some plays from a recent game:

14:47 (dunk)
20:06 (block)
20:42 (mid range)
21:15 (oop)
24:32 (3 PT)
27:58 (nice assist)

I think it's a high likelihood this is who we end up.

Well, Porzingis looks like a pretty skilled high-post big. He doesn't look like a guy you want dribbling the ball too much, but he looks like a real pain in the butt for defenders to match up with. He's kinda one of these long gangly skilled Euros like Pau Gasol who takes a long time to make a play, but there's not much you can do about it.

Can he defend out on the perimeter?

I remember when we were looking at Jonas Valanciunas and Donatas Montiejunas back when we drafted Kanter. Porzingis looks like a more versatile player than either of those two.

I like him. His stroke looks really nice... His height and length are pretty good too, and he's athletic for his size. I wish he had a wider frame so he can put some more serious muscle on it...

He might fill out a little, given how young he is. He needs to work on his body for sure. Is he expected to come over to the states this year or spend another year in Europe?

Here's a video of Barcelona vs Sevilla from last weekend:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zyz4Hap7xD0

Several high level prospects in the game - Hezonja for Barcelona, Porzingis and Hernangomez for Sevilla. I haven't seen it yet, but I will watch after the Warriors vs Rockets game is over...

yahoo just did a write up on porzingis. like a lot of euros great offense but lack in defense. one thing that video showed was he does not attack the boards. he would challenge the shot the just stand there. his stance is ver narrow but you can see he is thinking his way through so that was good.

it was also mentioned that he was 7-1 and still growing. does he play the center or a stretch 4. a stretch 4 like him would be devistating. can he put on muscle? can he bulk up at all?

he probably makes this draft 4 deep like what exum did last year.

I agree with pkm he seems like a player the jazz will end up with. if that happens by or trade for another pick and get lyles.

future

exum
Hayward
lyles (if he can get a 3 pt shot)
favors
Gobert

burks
hood
porzingis (just cause he will take time)
