Following potential 2015 draftees

I remember when we were looking at Jonas Valanciunas and Donatas Montiejunas back when we drafted Kanter. Porzingis looks like a more versatile player than either of those two.

Both those dudes had mass potential though. Can Porz gain any significant mass? He has that bony/lanky AK look.

Porz looks like a poor man's Rashard Lewis combined with a poor man's AK who grew to be 7' tall and isn't quick enough to be a SF.

That's a very serious concern. From what I've read about him, he's had very limited improvements in this department(adding muscle and strength) in the last several years. That's my main worry with him. That he simply won't be able to add much mass and he'd be pushed and bullied around too easily any time he's on court.

That's been Tomic's problem.

OH MAH GAWD! My eyes! They burn! Just saw what scouts mean about Hezonja's defense. You think Enes bites on pump-fakes too easily? Try Hezonja and you won't ever complain again about Enes... Go to 25:10 from the vid I posted... just rewinded it 5 times to make sure it was as bad as it seemed the first time... it was worse with every next view...

Smart. He has a massive upside and under the radar. He is Lamar Odom with a likely better 3shot.

He had 23 points, 5 assists, 4 rebounds against your boi Wall the other night.

He's had some good games so far as a Celtic. Not sure about the Odom comparison doe

The play before that he made two perfect defensive rotations. The 10 minutes I watched him play in the half his defense looked good.

I think with him it might be about defensive discipline and concentration, as well as will and desire to play defense, because in general his defense indeed seemed relatively good, barring some mental lapses like the one I pointed out. On paper he should be at least OK defender. From what I'm watching right now he's having problems going through some picks and once he gets too far behind he seems to give up on the play. Seems like lack of effort in those situations.

Hernangomez looks pretty skilled, but his lack of elite size and athleticism will hinder him on NBA level.

Porzingis' shot looks really nice - 3pt shot, face up jumper, turn around fade away jumper off the glass from 12 feet... beautiful... and to finish it off - monster alley-oop dunk... He scored in variety of ways in that game...

About Hezonja - he looks like an alpha personality, asks for the ball, searches the ball, takes responsibility in offense... also ... really nice backdoor and baseline cuts.

You forgot that Finnish guy Hano Mattola.

Porzingis should be able to gain some weight. Maybe he can get up to 235 or 240 eventually.

BTW, I'm not seeing star power with Stanley Johnson. I'm seeing James Young with more motor. Star wings normally have a tight handle and great body control.

Well obviously, ANYONE would take Okafor, Towns or Mudiay: right now they're the consensus top-3 guys. My assumption is that we're picking lower. So it appears Porzingis might be #4 on your draft board?

Many are calling him the next DIRK, so on that basis grabbing him at #4 is a steal.

Not very flattering analysis of Myles Turner's performance against NBA-level length of Kentucky:

Blocked shots are such an overrated stat when looked at out of context. I feel like that's happening with Porzingis.

In the words of Hantlers...

I probably would have stated any athletic wing with a weak offensive game instead of a black guy, but whatever.

The difference is Cy is asking if he could be like that, you stated that since Porz was being compared to Dirk, he would be a steal at #4. If you can't see the difference, then I don't know what to tell you.

Towns/Okafor Debate....Chad Ford

Am I the only person who thinks Karl Towns could end up being a better overall player than Jahil Okafor? Love Okafor, but Towns is a much better defender and has such a huge upside

No. You aren't alone. Okafor is the guy that appears to be the sure thing. Towns does have more upside because he's a better athlete (which helps him defensively) and he's a better perimeter shooter. But Okafor's footwork and hands are just amazing for a freshman and there just aren't that many back-to-the-basket scorers in the NBA these days. Right now, Okafor gets the edge, but I could see a bold GM taking Towns ahead of him projecting what each player will be in 5 years.
