Following potential 2015 draftees

Just got back from watching Stanley Johnson play. First Arizona Game I have actually got to live this season. It was against really subpar competition, but Johnson was solid if unspectacular (he didn't do anything to bring me out of my chair.) Didn't ooze elite NBA talent like Gordon did, but would probably be the best defending wing on the Jazz right away if we drafted him. Seems pretty comfortable on the 3 point line but doesn't camp there, and he moves without the ball really well. His defense seemed pretty legit, but I'm starting to wonder if Miller is just that damn good of a coach that he is going to have an elite defense no matter who is suiting up. If you are looking for a 3 and D guy, the D is pretty much there, but he gets his points in other ways than the 3 point line generally.

See there PKM, contributin'. . .

Also, where is my damn list, or am I going to have to go with

1. Stanley Johnson
2. Brandon Ashley
3. Zeus
4. Tyler Haws

Because currently that is the knowledge I possess and I wish to be enlightened.

I made it.. right at pg 150, no less.. clown.
Hint: you dont want none.

I have some doubts about Stanley Johnson being the impact player we need. I think he's a good athlete and a good defensive player. I think he'll be a good pro.

But tell me what he'll do that's better than another player I liked coming out of college--James Johnson.

Vezenkov? Sounds like a villain from a James Bond movie.

Aleksandar Vezenkov :) Pure shooter/scorer... has been killing the FIBA EURO U16, U18 and U20 tournaments in the last 3-4 years. He's been getting extended minutes this year in Aris and has been killing it(17ppg, 8.3rpg, 1.7 apg) ... oh, and he's 19(younger than Exum)... I had some really long posts about him earlier... you can search the thread and find them if you are interested.

You said you wished we had someone who can shoot 3s in the game thread. Well, he's a clear candidate to add some shooting for us off the bench...

Mario Hezonja has All Star potential.

The guy I don't know enough about is Justise Winslow. From what little I've seen, I think Winslow has more offensive potential than Johnson--just slightly better handle, explosiveness and body control.

I'm down for stock piling rights to Euro's.

He might be willing to come over right away... He's much more mature in his game than a most 19-year olds. He's been playing in the Greek League vs men since he was 16.

Stanley Johnson vs NBA-Level talent of Caris LeVert and Zak Irvin:

Very impressive stuff for the most part.

Yeah, I don't think he will be dominant offensively in the NBA, but he will do enough to make himself a starter based on defensive potential. Admittedly, I have been really busy this year and haven't seen as much college basketball as I did last year, but outside of the big men that we aren't likely to get I like his fit with the team out of all of the college players I have seen in our likely draft area, but I know just about bupkis on the Europeans.

How good is Stanley Johnson's defense right now? Is he elite lockdown right now? I watched a lot of A.God last year and he was elite defensively in college pretty early.

Wish we would have gotten Jokic last year. He is absolutely killing it. Could be a better shooting Mirotic. Denver could have Jokic and Nurkic staring frontcourt in a few years. Hope they get along though with one being Bosnian and the other Serbian.

Draft Express has him 6th for Intl born players and drafted 49th. Ford does not have him in his top 100, but he is often slow with the intl guys.

His off the ball defense is elite - denying the ball to his man, beating the pindown, defensive stance and technique, playing the passing lanes, help defense and rotations. On the ball, sometimes gets beat off the dribble. I think his thick body hinders him there and he might not be as quick as it is ideal for the position, but he makes up for it by effort and not giving up on plays and catching up enough to contest most shots(sometimes he misses the contest due lack of anticipation, while trying to catch up). His contests on pull up jumpers are really good and opponents almost always have a hand in their face while shooting.

I am not ready to say if he's as elite as Gordon was last year.

I don't think Jokic is anywhere close to Mirotic. The league he's playing in is a lot weaker than the ACB and EuroLeague where Mirotic was very beastly. Mirotic is very very versatile and you can see it if you watch Chicago regularly.

Johnson's PnR defense isn't good. But he's generally committed to give it all on that end and that's good. Will help his stock definitely.

Right now Mirotic is certainly the best player. His numbers last year were actually not really that impressive. But what the Nuggets have to really like is that Jokic is 4 years younger than Mirotic so Jokic still has plenty of time to get better. I dont really think that the Nugs wanted both Nurkic and Jokic starting NBA at the same time.

How about his per 36 in the Euroleague.

50.6% shooting on > 11 attempts. 46% from deep on 4.3 attempts. 81.1% free throw shooter on 6 attempts.
1.8 assists, 1.6 steals, 1.2 blocks, only 1.6 turnovers and 18.5 points.

Advanced stats are 65.6 % true shooting, only 10% turnover ratio on 22% usage rate. A 131 ORtg and a 99.6 DRtg and a PER of 24.5.

He struggled towards the end of the season but that's still impressive numbers. Whatever Jokic is posting isn't EuroLeague, especially the Adriatic League has a very shaky talent pool and a lot of youth is in involved in the Yogoslavian talent forge, which helps stats a lot.

Yeah, i think Mirotic may have checked out at the end of last year looking forward to NBA and now with Parker out he has a shot at ROY if Chicago continues to have one of their big men out.

The team Jokic plays for seems to always have good young talent. 3 guys drafted last year and another couple of players this year who may get drafted. Porzingis and him are about the same age but of course Porzingis plays for a better team in a much better league. Did not think we had much of a chance to draft Porzingis coming into the season but who knows now.
