Following potential 2017 draftees...

Sophomore Jawun Evans from Oklahoma State (who I mentioned as a possible PG for the Jazz to draft) put up 29 points and 6 assists against Iowa State a few days ago. He's currently at #36 on DX and could easily rise to a late-first rounder.

Jawun Evans finished with 22 points, 15 assists and 4 rebounds today vs #1 Kansas.

Not to sound like a mean *******, but he looks small. Probably just a back-up in the NBA, if that.

No hard feelings. You're entitled to your own opinion. If everyone is thinking the same then no one is thinking at all.

DX has him at #36 and ESPN has him at #52. The thing I like about him the most is his passing ability and that was shown today with 15 assists.

I think he could sneak in the first-round and would be a decent pick to be insurance against Hill leaving and to be Exum's backup.

Luke Kennard with 28 points and 5 rebounds tonight vs #5 North Carolina. He is going to continue to keep his stock rising.

Duke finishes 5th in the ACC with 10 McDonalds All-American's on the roster.. LOL

Jay Bilas talking about they aren't deep... what a sham.. ****ing 10 mcdonalds all-americans isnt enough?? u need the whole damn team to be deep?

this kid Isaiah Cozart isn't the next Robert Williams but he reminds me of him from a few summers back(not as bouncy).. Just got his first scholarship offer the other day, recruitment is in its infancy, he's sure to ascend the rankings rapidly at some point.. IMO..

Set the KY state record for blocks in a season this year and is on pace to smash the career state record.. He's 6'7" (and growing) with a 7'4" wingspan which I think is legit..

Right now he's unranked in the soon to be legendary HS class of 2019..

Jazz should take Derrick White with the last 2nd rd pick... or pay him as much as they can if he goes undrafted.. Better than Olivier Hanlan for sure.

BOULDER — Where would the Buffs be without the guy who's too skinny, too under-recruited, too unproven, too Division II?

Where would they be without Derrick White?

"I don't even want to go there," Tad Boyle said after White capped the finest individual season in Boyle's robust tenure as Colorado's coach with another big-boy performance, this time on his Senior Day. "We would not be as good as we are. He's a really special player."

It's not that White met expectations during his only regular season at the Division I level.

My man blew them away.

Get a load of these conference numbers from the UCCS transfer, who treated the Pac-12 the same way he treated the RMAC, with no mercy: 18.6 points per game, third in the league; 4.6 assists, fourth in the league; 1.5 steals, ninth in the league; 1.5 blocks, fifth in the league.

"We would not be 18-13 (without him)," Boyle said. "I'm not sure we'd have a winning record."

All White was missing was a sidekick and total buy-in from the entire senior class. With a nod of respect to another man forever tied to Colorado Springs, Lewis-Palmer's Josh Scott, White has been the best player at Coors Events Center for two years. Bummer they couldn't play together in games, only in practice, as White sat out the 2015-16 season due to NCAA rules.

It was only fitting that White saved the Buffs' bacon in the season finale, a 54-46 win against Cal in front of 8,392 on Saturday. He's done so all season. With 20 seconds on the game clock and 2 on the shot clock, White turned a slippery three-point lead into a six-point lead. His 3-pointer from directly in front of the CU bench swished through as if the net wasn't even there. White responded with a Jordan shoulder shrug as he back-pedaled down the court to a standing ovation.

"Needed that one," he said after piling up 17 points, eight rebounds and four assists.

Not as much as CU needed him.

Too often the Buffs play entitled basketball, as if several years of success guarantee several more to come. But the relentless Pac-12 schedule — minus a Beaver here or a Coug there — buried the Buffs beneath an 0-7 conference record. And it was a telling sign there was a lack of commitment when Boyle had to suspend a pair of seniors, Sierra alum Wesley Gordon and Xavier Johnson, for an undisclosed violation of team rules in early February.

Seriously, guys? With six weeks left in your careers? There are teenagers balling out in the CHSAA state tournament who would give up prom to play one possession of Pac-12 hoops.

Boyle is the best coach in program history with a Top 25 recruiting class arriving for next season. The 8-3 finish says more about his coaching ability than the 0-7 start, when the veterans weren't holding up their end of the bargain. Still, this is twice in three seasons CU Hoops has looked more like CU Country Club, a cushy place where players go to coast instead of compete. With 20-20 hindsight and Colorado State playing in the de facto Mountain West title game Saturday, the CU-CSU game in Boulder exemplified their attitudes as a whole: One plays pretty, one plays gritty.

That score: CSU 72, CU 58.

Funny how the guy who spent only one season in black and gold showed the most pride in wearing the jersey.

"He's one of the top five players in our league. I believe that," Boyle said. "You look around and (Washington guard) Markelle Fultz is good and (UCLA guard) Lonzo Ball is good. But I'm not sure, if there's an expansion draft, I would trade him for everybody."

There's a lesson in White's story, and it's obvious as his deserving selection to the Pac-12's all-conference and all-defensive teams: whether it's Division II ball in the faraway outposts of the RMAC or under the bright lights of the Pac-12, if you can play, you can play.

"I heard it all the time: 'You're in D-2 for a reason' and 'he probably won't be able to translate to this level'," White said. "I've had doubters my whole life. It's what drives you."

That bad man can play.

De'Aaron Fox is 4 for his last 7 from 3. He was great in the 2nd half yesterday, lets see if he can start a bit of a streak from 3 going into the tournament.

Pointed out Josh Jackson's hot streak from 3 a month or so ago and he's kept it up, now 20 for his last 39 and shooting a damn respectable .377 from distance... His FT's do still cause some concern..

Yeah, just because they only play 7, doesn't mean they don't have more.

But I'm curious- Frank, Grayson, Kennard, Jones, Bolden, Giles, Tatum- who else is a McDs AA? Is Jefferson? That would be 8.

Fox hasnt shot it well from distance, but his stroke looks good. It's why when evaluating him i don't see the subpar shooting as much of a negative.

John Collins streak of 20+ came to an end yesterday due to foul trouble, but he still finished with 13 pts on 6 shots with 9 rebs in only 20 min. Travesty that he isn't one of 15 Wooden finalists. He may not be a great NBA prospect, but he is the best player in the country this year. And with the win v VA tech yesterday, with a win or two in the conference tourney, i think they get in the Dance.

Amile Jefferson 2012
Chase Jeter 2016

so it's 9.. Javin DeLaurier had pretty strong case in 2016, he was a finalist.. He's really the forgotten man in all this mess. Should've played much more. At-least he's super active and athletic..

I really want to see Wake in the dance.. They might be able to pull an upset early..

If you're an agent and you let your 1st rd big guy work out privately for teams vs Robert Williams you're a damn fool.

Not the dude to be tested to try and make an impression.

A lot of people are coming out of the woodwork and have seen the light after yesterdays performance..

If wake's guards are making shots, they could really make some noise.

Lets say the Jazz hit a homerun in this draft with one of the picks and let's say that player is somewhere in-between Hood and Gobert in promise (looks like a potential starter for most teams in the league)

Which type of position and skillset would that player be to best help the Jazz?

Try to stay within the confines of this specific best-case scenario convo... Interested to hear opinions.. Remember to think of next years roster so u can even pair the pick with a FA to fill another hole.. U decide on Diaw's option..

I'm not saying the player will be ready to step in from day 1 and be full effectiveness either. Some could be given mulligans on the 1st year as long as they're ready to contribute later, and eventually they turn to a promising starter

Watching last nights game and seeing at times how WCS was able to use his quick reactions and agility to maneuver to spots quickly and cause some issues made think about what it'd look like if the Jazz had a player like that in the mix.

I think a big who'd fit the mold well is Harry Giles. His saving grace at this point is his movement, it eases some concerns about his knee.. He IMO is one of the bigs that would benefit the most from playing next to a Rudy or Favors because they'd allow him to roam, and like WCS he gets to spots quickly.

Robert Williams is really the best option for this type of skillset but Giles is way more gettable. Motley is also very fast and gets to spots he's more of a wrecking ball than Giles though.
