What's new

Following potential 2017 draftees...

The #BigBallers (LaMelo's) AAU squad got obliterated the other day by 50 led by DJ Davis who's an ELITE marksman in the class of 2020, he's got staying power / 5-star potential... just look at this footage from the game on instagram or this YT mix. definitely a player to watch. PG_AB approved and I hold the midgets to a high standard. Better prospect than Markus Howard who was one of the top 3pt shooters in the nation at 17 years old fro Marquette.

This kid is probably a better shooter than Trey Burke at 15 LOL

Indiana sophomore OG Anunoby will forgo his final two seasons of college eligibility, declaring for the NBA draft and signing with an agent, multiple sources told ESPN.

Really excited to see if the 7'6 wingspan reports are true.

@latbbolch
Can confirm both Thomas Welsh and Aaron Holiday are declaring for the draft without hiring an agent. Possibility both come back.

Ze Germans showed well at the hoop Summit. World team probably wins if Ntilikina's there (tho Lindell Wigginton played admirably)

that was some game... so much talent on the floor.

Hartenstein was grabbing key contested rebounds late and he really didn't do anything stupid, honestly they should've been getting him the ball more down the stretch, dudes taking contested 3's while he's on the weakside doing jumping jacks trying to call for the rock.

Mushidi showed out, he was on fire from 3 and appeared to be talking **** LOL.

Borisa Simanic got trashed, he really needs to add weight. was just a step behind throughout.. He tried to throw a pass over JArred Vanderbilts head from the perimeter and JV, quick as a cat, jumped up and snatched it immediately. looked like a bird of prey...

Felipe Dos Anjos was a mixed bag.. that kid needs to get real coaches someone needs to get him out of Brazil.... he's got the talent those teams were massive (like 6'8 avg height) and he was towering over the field, had one nice block where he stepped up in the paint and just engulfed a floater. Very next play tho he had an unforced turnover on a d-reb with no one around him he traveled. then there was also him catching a pass with both feet out of bounds, in that dunk position on the baseline right where the paint starts, for some odd reason he was setup there with both feet out of bounds, and someone passed it to him.

Mo Bamba looks like the #1 pick and it might not even be close. Coach Cal was on the $$$ a while back "The next Anthony Davis"

Simanic unless he is playing with the B team for Red Star does not play much for the Sr. team and that of course is not good for his development. Signed a long term contract with them anyway.

@TheBossman102
Per Michigan source. Down to Duke, Kentucky, and Michigan for Mo Bamba. Also believe agent-less DJ Wilson & Mo Wagner will come back next yr

It has been on my mind all day of the pg woes of the jazz and I have watched a lot of video of potential picks in the late first round.

The conclusion that I have come up with is the jazz don't need a traditional pg.

What the position needs is

- the ability to initiate the offense. Not run it just get the ball up and start it.

- make the right pass and do it well. I on so tired of watching Mack throw errant passes and the player has to break form and position to get it.

- hit the 3 pt shot at a decent clip to keep defenses honest. Clutch shooting would be nice but with Hayward and hood not nessecary.

- be able to defend decently the pgs in the NBA. I know the hardest position to guard. Stay infront enough to funnel them in and fight over screens.

- big enough to rotate and defend other players and spell time at the 2

- this last is just my addition and doesn't have to be but a PG with a little size hat can post up other pgs and punish them down low. This will make them work harder and tire them out.

I still like the idea of taking a flyer on Grayson Allen and groom him as a point guard. He is kinda crazy and that is what I like. He is decent at passing and with the jazz spacing he would get a lot of open looks. He is pretty athletic and is known as a decent defender.

If he can learn to control his anger he would be a huge compliment coming off the bench.

Dude needs to go to Duke

Marques Bolden is returning, with Carter there Javin DeLaruier will get shafted for minutes, again, I don't want to see that...

It's gotta be UK.. he's said he likes the idea of playing PF next to Nick Richards. He will breeze thru his NBA showcase at UK he'd be crazy not to. (he's safe anywhere he goes, RUDY GOATBERT comps are being thrown around left and right -- I wouldn;t even use that comp, ever, tho.. )

De'Anthony Melton is the player that fits the outline your looking for because your defensive wishes are a tall task. His 3pt shot is a work in progress he's REALLY young tho.. would possibly be the youngest player in the NBA.

He also brings to the table major plus rebounding and he actually can get some crazy blocks defensively, sort of like you'll see from Hamidou Diallo on UK next year.

I swear this kid is better, more potent offensively, than Olivier Hanlan who they drafted years back..

He's going to obliterate workouts..

These are the best highlights of him. someone thew this together a week ago. CHECK IT OUT!! If they could assimilate him, he's got serious burner potential, IMO.

BTW Jaren Jackson Jr(MSU) who I've been hyping as a lottery pick in 2018 since 2016 apparently blew scouts away in the Hoops Summit practices (and he was great in the game, flying in for dunks and boards) and ESPN had him 6th in a mock today (on that doesn't coincidence with their HS recruiting rankings at all)

Also news hot off the presses from next years FR. class;

@EvanDaniels
Four-star point guard Makai Ashton-Langford just verbally committed to Providence, per Mass Rivals coach Vinny Pastore.
