Following potential 2017 draftees...

Jazzfanz, where people write MUTUAL RESPECT with capital letters.

After following the highschool scene for some time, I wondered what exactly is intriguing about following the development on the court at such an early stage. It wasn't that fun for me at least.
So help me out in case I was doing it wrong.

Well for one its entertainment, secondly I'd say there could be intrinsic value to this info depending on how you choose to leverage it, third I'd say you'd probably have to be trying to learn something while checking out HSBB. whether that's specific information about players, teams, coaches, or minutiae about how things are structured and other adjacent info, like tips and tricks, drills and workouts or just the lexicon of terms used by professionals -- Once you've got **** like that established its easier to spot outliers, there's also always unique stories, every year, it's fail-safe.

There's also the competition of recruiting, which is really an interesting topic all by itself.

I like to follow how the imports do amongst the domestic HS players - That's interesting to me, in kind of a population theory type of way. For many obvious reasons the imports are increasing in #'s and effectiveness.

If a HS game is televised on ESPN, I like to watch them in-part because I want to see how the players react to the cameras, their usually pretty good games too.. I've seen a ton of NBA players play in HS already. After watching Derrick Rose in HS, I knew I wanted to catch as many of his games at Memphis as possible..Then I caught Tyreke Evans games in Hs and figured I'd root for Memphis. So now I like to see how the next generations compare.

Also there's always fresh news, good players are constantly getting discovered/shot up the rankings, the 6'5" PG Andrew Jones in my last post was simply underrated because he was sitting out recovering from Knee Surgery. He's really, really, really good - He and Justin Jackson(UNLV) will be 2 of the best 4-star recruits in the next class, and I coulda told you that months ago, it will ring true.

I also like tracking the field and profiles of the 100 or so 4 star players, the HS class of 2016 has an epically strong class of 4stars. I also like to check out the upper echelon 3-star players just to kind of look for standards or precedent if you will.

I particularly enjoy it for the stories, some of the tallest able bodied people on this planet are involved. Players from all over the globe from all sorts of different circumstances.

Hoopseen has Jones #9 overall in the class in today's update... Over Frank Jackson.. I can't really argue it either..

ESPN and Scout didn't even have him rated going into the summer.. (he was overlooked because he was sitting out with a knee injury).. Still a damn crazy story, he came up!!

OMG Why doesn't it end!?! Whys is college hope in Jazz I can't know.

The Jazz have 6 picks in 2017! 5 in 2016.. The probability that these future draftees are being discussed ahead of time, is very high.

Mark Vital(#95 by Scout, #65 by ESPN, #74 by Rivals) who was a 6'6" PF in HS and committed to Baylor 27 months ago, is due for a bump up those rankings in a major way.

He's a beast of a SF prospect. Strong as an ox with a serious set of shoulders. Plus he'll absolutely mash it on whoever. Super athletic, I'd say more so than Bill Walker, O.J. Mayo's old HS teammate that was a 5-star recruit. He's worth keeping an eye on. Type of player that'd be a good fit on this roster, he's a true power wing.

This can be said about many of the schools recruiting Andrew Jones, but if Baylor lands him, next to Vital, thats a great start on what would be easily one of their best classes ever.

Malik Monk dropped 40 in the 2nd half of a game yesterday..

Fox is dropping 35 a game and playing the usual other-worldly defense.

Bam puts up video game on easy #'s, still.

Wenyen Gabriel will be a one-and-done lottery pick, I'm rather convinced that by the time he plays for UK there won't be any doubt about it.Been saying it. I guess DX and NBAdarft will be late to the party.

All this stuff but yet you sit online all day and night. Okay whatever, I got no wife at moment but guarantee I got a hotter ex wife and ex gf I just broke up with. Bet they both hotter then your hillbilly Kentucky cousin oops I mean wife

I have more money.
More contacts.
A sexier wife.
And am happier than either of you worthless pieces.

Love you, tho, Gyp.

Keep an eye on Sophomore, 6'1 SG Emmett Naar at St. Mary's hes a serious sharpshooter. 65% from 3 so far this season. I'd Imagine a friend of Dante's, he's one of the best shooters AIS has ever produced.

So far 6.2 assists per game and 92% from the FT line.

Frank Jackson dropped 38 and the game winner on Miller Grove HS out of Georgia. MG's Alterique Gilbert, headed to UConn scored 37. Gilbert is legit.

Gilbert's a certified marksman. Great change of pace. He's ready to take/make big shots too. UConn's got a serious class incoming with Gilbert, Durham and Vance Jackson. Gilbert's probably 5'11" 6'1" wingspan. Looks like an NBA player and possibly the best of the 2nd tier of PG's in this epic class.

Five-star shooting guard Rawle Alkins turned in the performance of the weekend Sunday, going for 51 points to lead Word of God Academy (N.C.) to a 121-101 victory over Victory Prep (Texas).

Alkins — a 6-4 prospect from Brooklyn — scored 33 points in the second half alone, connecting on six three-pointers in the period. The game was played in two 20-minute halves, but Alkins spent some time on the bench in the first half and missed several minutes in the second half with a cut in his mouth.

He listed UK, Louisville, Indiana, North Carolina, North Carolina State, Kansas, St. John’s and UNLV as the schools still active in his recruitment and said he’s recently heard from Wildcats assistant coach Tony Barbee.

The plot thickens!

The plot thickens!

Cal is selling Alkins on there only being Fox and Monk in the backcourt with really only Matthews at the 3... With Gabriel playing more of a stretch 4. Tons of minutes in a 3 guard line up and backing up Monk.

A couple days ago, Monk had a 40pt second half. On that same day, Fox and Monk combined for 99pts.

Gabriel is killing it. Eric Bossi is saying he may be better than Fox or Monk (omg).

Here is another quote from Bossi that you will not find other than right here...

I look SKJ as a bit of a new age Channing Frye type. Can really shoot, slender and very fluid. Good rebounder and help side shot blocker. I don't know how much people remember of him when he was young, but he could get on the glass and swat some shots.

Good stuff, I swear I knew Gabriel was gonna be the real deal from the first time I saw footage on him, I've seen quite a bunch of players with his dimensions but never any with skills/ a scouting report quite like his - He's a rich mans version of a bunch of different SF's. If Duke would've gotten him, their class would probably be better than UK's.. (But they didn't and their class isn't..)

I've thought Alkins could play PG, SG or SF in the dribble drive for some time, and that he'd be better at SF than either Jamal Murray or Isaiah Briscoe(more naturally built for it)..

REAAAAALLY hoping they land him, much more than Marques Bolden (I'll take em both though!). Especially with Bam around now they can play 'small'. Fox-Monk-Alkins-Gabriel-Bam would have no issues grabbing boards and they'd absolutely demoralize the opposition.

SKJ has more upside than Channing Frye, for sure. Not saying he's gonna get drafted top-10, his game/skillset is less gimmicky IMO.

Fox, Monk, Alkins, Gabriel, and Bam would average 95 a game. No defense ever devised could slow them.
