What's new

Following potential 2017 draftees...

Tier 1
1. Harry Giles (PF)
If Giles is healthy and fully recovered this is easily a one player draft, but with surgeries now on both knees that's a big if. Giles is one of the more purely skilled PF's we've seen in a long while. He makes everything look sooo easy.
2. Josh Jackson (SG/SF)
Jackson is a smooth scorer that has ELITE level size and length. I project him to play most minutes at SG and slide to SF based on matchups. I bet he measures around 6'8 at the combine and will be an elite level scorer in the NBA.
Tier 2
3. Markelle Fultz (PG)
Electric PG that knows how to score, dictate pace, and lead the team. He's REALLY good.
4. Dennis Smith (PG)
Stupid fast. Confident. Fastest in the class. Let's see how he heals from injury and improves his leadership when not on a fast break. But he's very good.
5. Jayson Tatum (SF)
If there's one guy with the wildest range it's Tatum. He's a big smooth SF that can score and run a point forward role, but I've seen plenty of him ball hogging and forcing too much. I suspect coach K gets him dialed in and that's why I have him this high. If K doesn't, the kid isn't a good enough athlete to look past the poor decision making and he could fall to 20's. But I have him here for good reason.
6. Frank Ntilikina (PG)
Skip for now
7. De'Aaron Fox (PG)
Another electric PG with great length and elite speed (insert John Wall comp).
8. Edrice "Bam" Adebayo (PF)
Massive freshman at around 6'10/260 an incredible motor and a killer instinct. People will love this guy (or hate him).
9. Malik Monk (SG/combo)
Wow this is an athletic class. He's one of about 5 guys I want to say is the best athlete.
Has major upside as an elite level 3&D guy. Prolific scorer and relentless defender. Can easily play point well if needed, but is a born scorer.
Tier 3
10. Jarrett Allen (C)
This guy is very raw and should really be projected in the 20's right now. I'm just betting on a meteoric rise in skill level. Incredible athlete for a 6'11 guy and oozes defensive ability.
11. Lonzo Ball (PG)
Great size, great floor general, and very smart kid. Picked the wrong school though.
12. Ivan Rabb (PF)
We know him.
13. Omer Yurtseven (C)
He's a dummy cuz his idol is Enes.
14. Marques Bolden (C)
Nice size, but kinda soft. I have him here because he's got a really good offensive repertoire.
I'm far from sold on him though and wouldn't be surprised to see him slide a bit, but not much.
15. Thomas Bryant (PF)
16. Johnathan Isaac (SF)
17. Jonathan Jeanne (C)
18. Miles Bridges (SF)
19. Isaiah Hartenstein (PF)
Tier 4
20. Tyler Lydon (SF/PF)
21. Rodions Kurucs (SF)
22. Grayson Allen (SG)
23. Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk (SG)
24. Ogugua Anunoby (SF)
25. Justin Jackson (SF)
26. Devin Robinson (SF)
27. Monte Morris (PG)
28. Lauri Markkanen (PF)
29. Chimezie Metu (PF)
30. Jessie Govan (C)

Also, DX has Nigel Hayes at 37. The draft must be very top-heavy with "stars" but not very deep overall.

It will be interesting to see how the European market behaves when there's so much depth at the top.
Some prospects/agents want an early pick/biggest rookie contract like Dario Saric failed to score...(Had he not pulled out in 2013 he'd be paid a lot more since he'd be no longer bound to the rookie scale)
Those could opt to stay out of this draft as even in 2017 a lot of GMs will decide for the NCAA prospect when in doubt.
Other agents could use the depth on top trying to hide their high level prospect somewhere in the crop and getting them to certain teams that are known to develop and utilize international talent appropriately. (Hi Spurs, Nuggets etc)

OG Anunoby

His length/measurements and what not were said to be misreported according to someone on Jazzfanz. I forget who. But that user said the measurements were for another Hoosier, not him. Just saying.

Just a quick search and I've seen 7'2 to 7'6. Thomas Davis has about a 7'6 wingspan, so it could have been switched.

7'2 wingspan is still really good, and where I saw it was an article from 2014. Could have grown, but idk.

I'm not saying the info was wrong. I'm saying someone on Jazzfanz said it was. He may be right if you've read 7'6" but also see 7'6" for another Hoosier and 7'2" for OGA as well.

U20 Euro Championships being played now. Lauri Markannen is playing great. Arizona will be tough next year even with Ferguson not making the cut. Mushidi had a big game today. Yurtseven playing well despite being younger than most of the other players. Svi scoring points but taking a lot of shots to get it. Marc Garcia playing pretty well. Trying to reestablish himself as a prospect.

Arizona still loaded in the backcourt/wing.
Thanks for the report.

Looking at a very early analysis of the jazz and what they might need in this draft and it is not easy. This team is stacked but has a few weaknesses.

- i love JJ but lets face it he is no spring chicken and clearly on the downside of his career. With hayward, hood and hopefully burks the jazz have a decent rotation. Hill will also get burn here but he is a free agent next summer. I hope re re-signs but until that happens you cant count on him.

Wing players (i have made the assumption that the jazz will be in the top 10 in the nba so we will draft in the 20 to 30s)

- jaron blossom game seems to be a decent pick up. He plays with fire and is very athletic. His shot is odd but looks to be fixable. He would be a great addition.

- grayson allen is a pure scorer that would be a great addition. Some of the write ups say he might be able to play some pg. Considering how the jazz play this is doable with Exum. He can be deadly from 3 (but inconsistent) and is pretty athletic. He is also a decent defender. Not great measurables if he plays the 2.

Yurtseven another good game. A Czech named Matej Svoboda is playing really well. Does not seem to be ranked on draft sites right now though. Flaccadori having a good tournament for Italy. Markkanen another outstanding performance in a losing effort. Mushidi stunk today. Watch out for Wimberg.

For instance, this article says 7'6".

A user, I forget who, said that's misinformation and I lean toward thinking that user is correct. Gobert is 7'8.5" and I don't think Anunoby is that close to him.

The #1 player in the class of 2019 (in my book) Chandler Lawson just measured a 7'6" wingspan at 6'6" in shoes. It's the craziest measurement I've ever heard of... and he's a lock to be a top-10 pick. Anunoby isn't built quite like that.

does this have anything to do with that call you made once about Al-Farouq Aminu?

That's a more freakish ratio than Bruno Caboclo.
