What's new

Following potential 2017 draftees...

Leaf isn't redundant with Lyles he's got legit SF potential. He reminds of Kyle Singler, who fooled me and many others back in the day so I'm weary. At this point I like Rodions Kurucs better - Thats the same from the last update a month ago tho, he hasn't really dropped he was 26th and is now 28th after Anunoby and Anigbogu reemerged.

I'm very interested to see how Leaf measures and shoots for teams in workouts. Same for Lydon, IMO Lydon is the best 3pt shooter and Kurucs is the best natural SF.

Well Leaf is a full inch taller than Singler and much better in his freshman year. Also there were some red flags on Singler like that 23" standing vertical which is about as low as you'll find on any NBA player.

You're hate for Hayward is so hilarious and well documented. I guess you didn't learn from your past mistakes and want to continue to eat crow in the future.

What exactly have I been wrong about if it's so well documented? Humor us. They've achieved upper-class mediocrity in a top-heavy league with him. that's it.

Is Brooks not further along than Hayward at the same stage??? I've only said Gordon's expendable and replaceable which is what I think about every player... I think Rudy's the most difficult piece to replace on the roster, if thats ridiculous to you than so be it.

lets hear this revisionist history..

Surely it will reveal that I was wrong to consider a multitude of opportunities instead of just gleefully going along with the status quo.. Be sure to start with my suggestions of signing DeRozan(and Aminu for pennies on the dollar) and Jeff Teague before the Trey Burke setback.

The jury is still out on any of the young SF's I've brought up that I think are better talents; Giannis, Michael Porter Jr., R.J. Barrett, Ingram, Isaac, Tatum, Zion Williamson, Sekou Doumbouya and DJ Jeffries...

Like I said before; Hayward isn't 80% of the player KD is, so why is paying him the same kind of $$ going to help dethrone the Warriors when they have a better surrounding cast as well..

There's no doubt he's a better prospect than Singler, they're just similar. I have a friend whos a former pro that played against Singler (and spencer hawes / other high ranked players that year) in a summer camp showcase who I discuss this with, he's wishy-washy..

This draft is tough to peg, once the withdrawals/declarations happen things will be MUCH clearer for some of the fringe 1st rd prospects.

I think Leaf is gonna declare and stay in, I can't tell where just yet but I know he's good enough to go in the 1st. I can't put him over Lydon at this point tho, who's more of a classic 3-and-d player.

In terms of natural ability, Mario Hezonja is more gifted than Gordon Hayward. It points to just how important BBIQ and work ethic are to whether a player is going to develop and have an impact.

When Hayward came into the league, he was an OK shooter, an OK athlete, an OK passer, expected to be an average defender (if that), and nothing really stood out about him except that he had a knack for knowing how to make the right play in a given situation. But he wanted to become an All Star and he improved every single year.

Disagree Mario can't dribble, the eye hand coordination isn't there. Kind of important as a wing.

His nickname should be "The one man army". 30 in the 2nd half.

He's running NBA routes, shooting from NBA range and making NBA-caliber moves off the dribble. His scoring will translate.

Does Calipari purposely run NBA sets in order to showcase and prepare his recruits for the NBA?

Of course, for many colleges thats part of a recruiting pitch but for UK it's pretty much a given if you're good enough to demand the ball...

Ultimately college is about preparing kids to be pro's and Coach Cal is the best.

Isn't that why everyone goes to college? To prepare for the professionals?

Sure, but for many that is not the top priority... Common reasons include; staying close to home, playing with a friend, playing for a coach/relative, going somewhere glamorous (OJ Mayo), $$$ under the table perhaps?, going to their favorite school, some of course go to party and meet women.. you get the idea.. oh lets not forget the ever popular; going somewhere under advisement of a shoe company LOL..

Do you know how hard Hezonja works? Some people just peak early at stuff. If all it took was BBIQ and work ethic to become an All-Star, then there would be a lot more people challenging to be all-stars.

No, if that was the focus then going professional would be the choice. That way you could practice as much as you wanted and not be constricted by NCAA rules.

College is just a proving ground, for any profession, that exploits people in most cases. In the case of athletes, the NCAA gets to make a **** ton of money off them and in the case of regular students, they make them pay way too much money to get a job that the college really doesn't prepare you for.

Of course he's farther along than Hayward at the same stage. Almost every 4-star and 5-star recruits are. Hayward was a tennis player first and basketball player second. Not sure how that proves literally anything. Hayward is an all-star you do know that right? Or are you still in denial?

Brooks would have to become an all-star first to even be in the same sentence as Hayward.

Lol check this gem of a thread out:

Also, you wanted to trade Hayward for Schroder straight up and made multiple dumb trade ideas during the 2013 draft thread involving Hayward.

you forgot to mention the part where Hayward leads them past KD, Kawhi and LeBron to the championship and actually proves me wrong..

til then you're basking in upper-class mediocrity like a lizard beneath a heatlamp.

Every year players get older and the FO's accelerated this process; primes and cheap contracts go to waste.. players like Sap walk for nothing.. while the obvious favorites keep winning.

If he doesn't deliver a chip much of what I've had to say about him will turn from untrue to true.. Even in your very biased eyes, my plan of planning to fight another day(and go young)will look better than having brought a water pistol to a gunfight.

Schroder for Hayward straight up would've saved ****loads of $$ and an additional lottery pick.. and you have a player thats younger than the cores of the Warriors... and with that freed up $$ you have opportunity to pay another player younger than the core.. they could've had someone locked into a longterm deal for years going into this salary cap explosion, instead Hayward is going to finesse a morbid amount of the cap.

How did you like Hayward today?

The Kyle Guy detractors in this thread are awfully quiet after 10 3pt makes in the last 2 games and leading the charge in an upset of UNC. He's now shooting over 50% on the season from deep.
