Following potential 2017 draftees...

So... who've we got for our picks?

*rubs hands*

Lets say the board falls as DX has it. and that were hunting for BPA's strictly. Here's my picks (right now, things will obviously change leading up to the draft. some warts are still to be revealed. and 2x or 5x more misdirection is still to be revealed. It's worth noting they don't have Frank Jackson listed which would change things quite a bit.

Harry Giles
Hamidou Diallo
Monte Morris
Viny Okouo

I think the Jazz have already had him in for a workout. He's really springy, fluid and skilled for a 6'10" dude. He really pops off the screen.

He is a pro's pro. That kid can ball, i dunno how else to say it.. He's got true ball-skills. He has the potential to go flying up the boards into the teens. He's built for todays NBA..

He was an undrafted free agent that shot the lights out from 3, in fact he led the league in % as a rookie.. He shot it so well it was undeniable that he was worthy of being on an NBA roster (and with a real contract)

His defense has nothing to do with any of that.. U don't look in the UDFA for the most complete players, u look for ones who've got a tool sharp enough that it can be used and leveraged in spurts.. and Morrow was exactly that, in spades.

Context is always important. Always follow the $$$, many of these stats are bogus in comparison.. These stats and 'experts' help people lose the scent of whats truly important as a tracker. $$$ is the greatest stat of all in sports. Things are always worth what others will pay, the key question is "Why?" and how to appraise true underlying value, which again Morrow as an UDFA was in spades..

His d has everything to do with it. He said he'd be a 3 and D player and then compared him to Morrow.

You don't think Bam has more upside than Giles?

Also how about Jawun? We're shaky at the PG right now and this dude can SCORE.

If this kid has half a brain, just think of how Rudy could mentor him. No doubt he'd be best off in Utah with that kind of training..

He could, I've been wrong before and I'll be wrong again, they both have a lot of talent. It's not an easy question to answer. I wouldn't underestimate either of them. I do think Harry has more upside tho, in a gun to my head scenario thats who I'd take. Bam might be the safer of the 2, i'm not exactly sure.

I hate to cast this aspersion on such a kid who's come so far, but to me, Jawun Evans is just a consolation prize in this draft. I really don't think he's much better than Monte Morris tbh. I'd rather roll with Derrick White too, It's much easier for me to say that now that he's been moved up so highly on the consensus. Who'dve thunk that White could potentially be out of range when Utah's 2nd rd picks are on the clock -- not me.

Giles makes me nervous, not because of his health, but because he isn't elite at anything. He's a good, not great athlete. He's a pretty good rebounder, an okay scorer around the rim. He seems like a guy who could disappear. I'd be nervous taking him at #24.

I love the way Wilson handles the ball in the open floor. I love the way he can create a look for himself from mid-range. And I love that he's a triple-threat player at 6'10" with some bounce and shiftiness. I think he's a pretty compelling pick at #30, assuming he's there. He kind of make Lyles look like a klutz.

Giles would be a steal, it would be incredibly fortuitous for him to fall in their laps for a great number of reasons.. He will find a niche and be great in his role.

He doesn't need to be great at anything, he's got the potential to be pretty good on both sides of the ball, which is worth a ton. He's got a sharp mind, and some pretty badass tools at his disposal, his best being his quickness, anticipation and his hand-eye coordination. I refuse to believe were watching the beginning of the end of Harry Giles, I think its more like just the opening act. I trust his instincts.

You gotta give him at least one more year. This is the most important offseason of his life, it'll be very telling what comes of it.

Trey has better instincts, he's just got consistency issues, as most young players do. His tale is far from over. All he needs to do is hone that 3pt shot and he's got nothing to worry about all the haters will look like idiots and eat crow for doubting him, if his shot proves to be unreliable then the haters will be proven right, at least for this initial stint on the rookie deal.

So who do you compare him to? Who do you compare his impact in the league to?

So who do you compare him to? Who do you compare his impact in the league to?

Its tough because with bigs theres much more of a scarcity factor. So many players are either offensive or defensive players, or rebounders, and Harry is a little bit of everything.. Impact is something that has to do with team fit and development, thats beyond what I'm prepared to try and answer at this point in the process. As it pertains to Utah I do think his impact could be some insurance for if Favors walks... We're talking about hands-down one of the most volatile and polarizing players in this draft, for certain. He shows flashes. Thats still the Harry Giles I've been watching for years, I'm not yet convinced he's truly damaged goods.

Who do i compare him to? Pascal Siakam. There's a big time age difference tho, Siakam just turned 24 after his rookie season. So there's some incongruence, no comparison is truly perfect anyways, anyone who says that reveals themselves as completely full of **** quite quickly.

We need a guy who can provide energy, hustle play and toughness. Jordan Bell is a pretty good candidate.

He can provide that for sure (isn't that what Bolomboy's for tho?), I'm pretty sure the Jazz let Rudy do that **** tho and then they fill in bigger peices to the puzzle, rathr than giving Rudy reinforcements beyond Favors...

What do you make of Mathias Lessort in comparison?

His high school mix tape has shades of a young Chris Bosh, but he didn't show near that athleticism at Duke.
