Following potential 2017 draftees...

He just doesnt have the x-factor skill that makes him a complete player IMO.

I think Leaf and Kuzma have pro level playmaking potential and I think Wilson has the defensive potential. Lydon is obviously the most pure shooter, but I think you have to have more skills than just shooting.

I think Leaf would thrive with QS/Jazz.

I think if you put the top 60 draft prospect in a line-up and told a casual NBA fan to pick the player who looks most like someone the Utah Jazz would draft, they would probably pick TJ Leaf w/ Luke Kennard coming in as the close 2nd.

Lydon playing against NBA-sized bigs. He had 7 rebs. His team got blown out though.

Even the pro sites do it. DX had us on Leaf for a long time but must think we see another Gobert in Jeanne. NBAdraft has us taking Kennard at 24 right now. Not sure about Chad Ford's.

Josh Jackson has the best chance to be the best player coming out of this draft, imo. Ceiling is very high, and his floor is very high as well. No way he fails.

Lonzo Ball is not a sure thing. Even if he's really good, his scoring isn't going to lift a franchise. He needs good players to complement.

I'm not confident saying Ball is going to be better than Fox, Smith Jr. or even Frank N.

Could u elaborate why u think Josh Jackson is the best guy? In my eyes he looks like he's the one most likely to bust out of the top10, because he's got a questionable jump shot, average length and build and on top of that if he can't dominate the ball/run the offense he has the potential to wreck a team's spacing. If he runs the offense and the screener can't pop there are issues as well IMO.

He said a chance.

He plays harder than anyone else in the draft and is the best defender. I would say he is one of the guys with the least bust potential. Probably the most well rounded player in the draft. He has leadership/alpha qualities, very vocal on court. He isnt a terrible shooter and he can create off the dribble for himself and others.

The lottery picks are important assets for the league to help teams. It wouldn't make sense to give them all out by chance even with weighted odds based on league record.

Some examples:

The league sells the Pelicans franchise to a new ownership group, and the Pelicans get a #1 pick to help them get started.

A new ownership group takes over the Bucks, and the Bucks get a #2 pick to help build their franchise.

Fans are rioting in Cleveland after Lebron leaves. Cleveland gets a #1 pick and then another #1 pick to help give them hope for the future.

If the Lakers lost their pick this year, it would have been a disaster for the Lakers and would have hurt the league's TV deals, which would have affected all the teams. We're talking hundreds of millions of dollars over the next few years. You really want to leave that to chance?

I don't think all the picks are rigged. Probably just one or two each year.

ESPN story today--Should the Lakers trade their pick for a star?

Losing this years pick, they would lose 2019 first round pick too. And next year they already gave it to someone else i think.
Lakers future would be sucked up. NBA saved them. It is their dearest franchise.

While we have Favors and Lyles, it doesnt make sense to pick a PF in the draft. We should either look for a steal or go for a SG-SF. Kennard would be ideal and he would immediately help, but i dont think he drops that much. Diallo is most intriguing guy here. Thinking he might be a top 3 pick next year, i say, why not steal him this year?

I dont think Josh Jackson gonna be the best guy out of this draft. Fultz, Lonzo, Tatum, Monk has more upside. But Jackson is a better all around player. He can pass, defend he is athletic. If he improves his shooting he will be a really good player. But no way as good as Tatum offensively. I also think Isaac and Zach Collins are good. Dont sleep on them.

To be fair he said "the best chance", which means he's the best prospect in his opinion.
Some reasoning like what you offered is all I asked for. I can understand where you're coming from regardless whether I disagree or agree.
In general, this is something that's lacking a lot these days. If you post your opinions, try to elaborate more often to create a cleaner discussion. It's roughly a month until the draft and I find myself browsing through threadpages like thirsty boys swipe their tinder apps. A bit more of "I like x, BECAUSE ..." and less "X is good" - "No he's not" - "You're stupid" - "No, you're stupid"

Well browse through a couple pages in this thread and you may notice the lack of explanation that I see.
The explanations are what make opinions intriguing from my point of view and in the past I've liked reading full posts and it took time to catch up on 5 new pages when I didn't have time to visit the forum for a couple days. Right now I'm just browsing pages glancing over posts like "Jayson Tatum is a stud" and I see no reason to brake my mousewheel for posts like this.

Regarding Josh Jackson, he's an excellent 2-way player, prototypical athlete for a wing, and his shooting will continue to improve. He can do just about everything end to end and potentially take over games. I don't see how he busts. Even if he shoots poorly, he's like Iguodala in every other aspect of the game.
