Following potential 2017 draftees...

let me ask (i am not saying i like it one way or the other)

Jazz trade #24 Lyles and Diaw to Detroit for Jon Leuers 3 years $30 million and #12?

Leuer only shot 29% from 3 last year (38%, 24% and 47% the past 4 years)

Is it worth it to move up to take on that awful contract and I figure lyles would be in the mix instead of the 30th pick and Leuer and Lyles is very redundent. If i was Detroit in order for me to trade the 12th pick i would want #30 also

would you like it?

That's pretty poor logic, considering Mitchell is nowhere near the Jazz's draft range. There has to be something that makes this workout relevant to Mitchell. Otherwise he wouldn't do it.

I think it is smart to send players to teams outside their range... let them meet the guy and fall in love if it is a good fit. May be a long-term play or DL may have done the agent a solid in the past and he is returning the favor.

What is the thing that you want in return for Diaw's contract. Give examples. I'm almost certian none make sense... It has to involve the Jazz not getting any salary back, otherwise it defeats the purpose. We need this space more than we need middling assets and 5th-6th wing or big for 7-8M salary.

If we did it I could see a Diaw plus cap space and a draft pick for a pg if they got a good deal on Bledsoe or Dragic. I think we could wait on Rubio.

Maybe Diaw for Tobias Harris... then I think we are dumping Favors and Burks salary at some point.

I mean it could be used, but it isn't nearly as valuable unless we are taking on terrible salary which means Hill Ingles or Hay are gone.

It is an interesting thought but I think haven't Lyles lower contract for the next two season is more valuable...that and the chance that he might get better.

I like Leuer... Don't think that is an awful contract, but it means we are reconfiguring things. Dropping Burks and Favs... not sure I want that big of a shake up pre-Hayward talks. Unless it's a clear home run I'm not doing anything drastic before FA.

I think SVG loves him some Leuer too. I think Harris, Morris or Johnson are more likely to get moved.

No. One of Lyles or 24... Maybe... not both. And that's without taking into account that we cannot afford Leuer. So when that's taken into account HELL NO! Because it means you cannot sign Hayward, Hill and Ingles because of Jon freaking Leuer.

Lyles and 24 for 12? Would you do it? I'm confused by the first part of your reply.

I hate everything about the second option. EVERYTHING!

I wasn't advocating this draft just looking at how Detroit would be willing to trade.

You don't give up a lotto pick with out getting 1) a vet 2) cap space 3) young talent or 4) more picks.

I would do Lyles + 24 for 12 if one of the players I like is there.

I was responding to #24, Lyles and Diaw for Jon Leuer and #12... This I wouldn't do.

Lyles + Diaw for Leuer + 12
or
24 + Diaw for Leuer +12

Those are closer value-wise IMO. And I still wouldn't do them because I don't want to be paying Leuer 10M for 3 years, while we are haemorrhage for capspace.

What I don't get is how every one seems hell bent on keeping hill? There are way more affordable options out there.

He's really good... better than Rubio, Bledsoe, etc. and is affordable. He fits perfectly. He's not injury prone, just had bad luck. Hill at 4/80 is much better imo than trading what it would cost to get a downgrade on a better contract. He's also won more and has experience... it helped us a ton this year.

He's also one of the closest guys with Hayward (from what I hear).

I'm not paying the guy 4/132 but 4/80-100 is reasonable. I'm also not the biggest believer in Dante.

No way Pistons would do that, not even close value wise.

That's what I thought... thx.

SVG gets okay role players as the GM but pays them 30% too much every time... now they are going to need to dump someone.
