Following potential 2017 draftees...

I went to look at the numbers to prove you wrong... then I got sad... I liked Frank and now all I can think about is Hanlan bricking jumpers in summer league and pre-season.

Jackson is a better defender than Hanlan and has the traits to improve further on defense. I'm more afraid of Jackson becoming a chucker like Trey Burke but with that, at least Jackson would play some defense. I think his success in the NBA will depend on his PG leadership and whether or not he can become efficient with A/TO ratio.

I'm tall so this is an unbiased opinion. I don't mind a small point guard and as they can have these advantages:

1) Less knee issues
2) Lower center of gravity, can slip through screens
3) Less dribbling turnovers due to low to the ground handle
4) Quicker

5'9 though, I'll pass. If Mason wasn't the best 3pt shooter in the draft I wouldn't be so high on him. Also has an outstanding vertical, 3rd best measured at the combine

The problem is on the defensive end. Teams are getting savvy at attacking the weakest defensive player now by forcing them to guard a switch. Basically, it's what the Jazz did to isolate Joe Johnson on Jamal Crawford. In the Celtics/Wizards series, Wall and Porter were going at Isaiah Thomas on every single possession. A small guy who can't survive on defense can't stay on the floor for a good team. There's really no such thing as man-to-man match-ups anymore. If the guy is really strong and thick like Chris Paul or Kyle Lowry it can work okay, but a bunch of guys who were solid college players like Tyus Jones, Shabbaz Napier, etc. can't really stay on the floor. The game is changing and it's becoming harder on undersized guards.

The standards are higher for a team that wants to win 50+ games.

I'm a Marcus Keene fan. He needs to cut down on his turnovers. He turned it over way too much. And he'll never be a great defender just because of his size. But he scored in bunches at Central Michigan. Efficiently. From everywhere. He has a variety of stepbacks, floaters and other moves to beat taller defenders. I think his offense has a chance to translate to the NBA to at least some degree. I'd be happy to see the Jazz take him in the second round.

That's of course a valid point Catchall but it's also harder to dribble on those low to the ground dudes, think about the all time steal leaders Jason Kidd and Stockton. Game has kind moved away from posting up and onto perimeter play.

Side note: I think Lonzo Ball has received some very very bad advice only trying out for one NBA team. Think of the shape you'd be in after auditioning for 10+ NBA teams. Granted it's a calculated risk with injury concerns, but hell, basketball players play basketball.

Ball is guaranteed to be a top-4 pick regardless. A workout in an empty gym isn't going to change that.

Are you really believing any of these reports?

And it's hard to be in basketball shape in the off-season. Walt Perrin says everyone isnt in shape for workouts.

What do you make of Fox outplaying him though??

Tyreke Evans outplayed steph curry in an individual workout in Sacramento.

Basketball is 5 on 5... I think these workouts need to be taken in context.

It's my favorite part of his after workout questioning/analysis.
