Following Potential 2018 Draftees

And Evan Turner is actually a really good player. He just never learned how to shoot, and I dont think he ever really tried.

An Evan turner that cares and can shoot is a freaking good player. He’s also bigger than Evan... right? If he can shoot (which is a definite if) then he could be all star level good as a combo forward. At 21 (or really anywhere in the draft) there are going to be ifs.

I really think he goes late lotto or mid teens though... I don’t see him making it to us.

Brown will be a great switch defender.

How much did it help our offense that Joe could take the ball up court and run a PnR? Brown can do that stuff too.

He also shows potential to be able to punish a switching defense in the future with his handle. I don’t give a **** if he’s not a future dunk contest participant.

It’s useless to try to sell you all on him because he’ll be picked 5-10 spots before us. But y’all dumb as hell if you think prospects like that grow on trees at 21.

This is the first time I've looked up Brown's numbers but am I reading this right? He scores 11.3 ppg and shoots 29% from college 3's?

Correct me if I'm wrong but to me those are VERY mediocre numbers.

Mitchell scored 11.7ppg and was 33% from 3 in college.

No there's a team Im really hoping nabs him at the top of the 2nd rd but those chances are looking more and more bleak.

I guess more that he’ll be worth a **** at all. I’m of the opinion we will forget his name 2 years from now and he will be an “oh yeah, whatever happened to that dude?” kid when we look back at this draft.

You’re leaving off the part about elite althleticism, insane length and great defender. But, yeah, y’all frame the narrative however you want.
Did I say that Brown would be a superstar like Mitchell?

Or was I pointing out the fact that college stats can be very misleading?

This kid is not the next Josh Selby... He's legit, very talented. Most importantly to this board he could help the Jazz.

Anfernee Simons and Jazz rookie Donovan Mitchell are very close. I asked Mitchell about Simons after a Lakers preseason game in October: "He's talented. He can score at all 3 levels. The main thing I talk to him about is just defense because scorers are easy to come by, scorers who play defense aren't. I've been talking to him a bunch. I wish him the best of luck. He's just a talented kid. Athletic. Knows where to be, knows the game, and I think that's rare to find in a kid that age. He has a bright future."

^^^^^^ this is who the Jazz need. It just so happens he's close with D. Mitchell too...

I agree 100% on Troy Brown. Most overrated player projected in the 1st round. I am praying that Brown and Holiday are picked before 21 by some stupid teams and it pushes better prospects down to us. Troy Brown has NO ATHLETICISM. He can't shoot. He cannot play D. He has ideal size for a wing and is a good passer and has a good handle but he is going to be exposed in the NBA.

Gordon, is that you? Seriously, lots of people were saying the same thing about Gordon Hayward, who incidentally also shot 29% from 3-pt as a soph. Troy Brown's numbers as a freshman in the Pac 12 are comparable to Jaylen Brown. Troy isn't the same athlete obviously, but he has better ball skills.

He'll be fine, though I agree his ceiling will come down to how well he improves his shooting. But the dude is only 18 for crying out loud.

Ultimately, it's a non-issue. Brown will probably get picked several spots above the Jazz if the Jazz stay at 21. He's in play as high as #12 to LAC.

Yeah, I think Memphis wants a win now piece that we don't really have. Like a Kevin Love or Derozan or something. Their GM really wants to win 50 games this season.
This is so short-sighted... wow. Memphis has become a dumpsterfire. What the hell are they doing?

Go look at what Mikal Bridges put up as a freshman and as a sophomore.
