Following Potential 2018 Draftees

And yes, Texas has Mo Bamba in the middle, but he fouled out and after that Bagley took advantage of a terrible zone anchored by a 6'8 player surrounded by 6'4 and under guards.

When Bagley just focuses on playing around the rim and being a garbage man, he is really good.

I'm just not sold on Bagley's other skills or his defensive IQ/awareness.

Trae Young is a baller:

I'd like to see a stat on his 30 feet heaves. Also... having conflicting feelings about him. I think I still have residual trauma from the other Treys....

regardless of what anybody thinks of him as a prospect, he is the most interesting player in college basketball right now. if there is a must see player, its him.

I don't think i disagree in general with your assessments of Bagley as i am not sold either, but its important to remember he's one of the youngest freshmen we see from season to season.

Bagley isnt that good. Huge project. Doesnt have the insane length to give him teh upside he needs to be worth a top 3 pick. Not super high IQ, not super high awareness on defense. Is average at everything (besides shooting which is just bad at ) other than being athletic.
Yeah, you didn't just say he wasn't worthy of a top 3 pick. You **** on him and wiped your *** with your perspective.

Wow, really like Anfernee Simons shot and handle. Lillard-esque.
He's my favorite non-top 5 player right now. I need to find some full games of him though... The highlights are titillating. To me he looks similar to Fultz and I loved Fultz pre-draft.

Yeah his skills, based on highlights mind you, look nba. Thats an impressive release.

I cannot help but imagine what he can be. I agree he's not polished at all right now. The thing that is selling me on him is - even while being raw and having some questionable touch, he's still dominating as freshman. And he seems to be getting better game by game. I just cannot help but wonder what happens when he develops his skill, because even though it's not advanced by any means he does have some skill and his dexterity and agility at his size are tremendous. Just imagine if he develops some moves to go along with it. He already has some up and unders and he's trying floaters and eurosteps and hooks and they don't look unnatural. They look good, just the touch is not always there... and his second jump is probably quicker than Rudy's if that's possible. That's how he gets a lot of his offensive rebounds and putbacks... he misses and follows his own shot to finish it. I think Bagley is the type of player you will wonder about in the future "how the hell did he go behind 4-5 players?"

My hesitation with guys that need to add skills is that, in my opinion, players tend to grow into who they are, not out of who they are. I remember really liking draymond at msu. No one could have seen what he would become in the nba. But you could see he was very skilled. Honestly not a lot changed from college to nba in that regard for him. Im also kind of tired Derrick Favors type pfs. Im ready for a heady 4 man with a lot of different skills.

That's the thing. I think Bagley has some skill. It's just not polished, it's all raw and a bit chaotic with him. I think with time he can grow into a great two-way player.

Bagley gives me Julius Randle vibes.

People said he had skills outside of his core strengths (rebounding, hustle, ability to play around rim), but they havent developed. It's not set in stone these things ever develop to the level they need to be at to be great tools.

So currently, I have Bagley somewhere between Blake Griffin and Julius Randle, leaning more towards the Randle side of the spectrum, but with Griffin's athletic ability.
