Following Potential 2020 draftees

I think the jazz were hoping for either Huerter or Divincenzo being their and when they got picked they didn't know what to do with the pick. Shame because they could have traded down(even into the 2nd round - Mitchell Rob, Devonte Graham, Jalen Brunson) and got value. They dropped Allen fast.

I still like Reggie Perry in the 2nd round as an offensively versatile 4/5. I still think he's undervalued in mocks. The only questions are his defense and coachability.

I see some Paul Millsap potential--shooting, rebounding, handling, passing.

That was an awkward draft for where the Jazz were picking.

I actually am just gonna go out on a limb and say there's no way Utah drafts Tyrell Terry with the first rd pick.

They might. I don't have a feel for the types of players JZ likes, though guys he's drafted and acquired so far have been pretty solidly built athletes--Brantley, Tucker, Oni, etc. Terry could be really good.

I think Tony Jones said that Huerter was their guy.

It doesn't look like he has a very good frame to put on a lot of weight...still really like him as a prospect though.

Yeah he doesn't need to put on a lot of weight... just get stronger like Steph so you can hold your ground a bit and take the beating of the regular season. I doubt he is there when we pick. I'd be on board if we picked him up.

Yeah, I'd be shocked if Utah went with Terry unless they really feel he is special.

Terry being simply average sized would bump him up for me.

Steph Curry was 6'2" and 180 lbs when he was drafted after 3 years at Davidson. Wingspan could be a factor for Terry, but Steph was measured with just a 6'3" wingspan. Of course, Steph eventually played at an MVP level, so having Steve Nash measurables wasn't an issue.

Trae Young was just over 6' with a 6'3" wingspan when he was drafted.

And I wasn't making a comp just to be clear. Just saying he could get stronger without getting bigger and survive. I did think maybe Terry could be a better version of Seth Curry. I would think Philly would snatch him up before us but there are a handful of guards with similar skillsets in this range. Maybe they like one of them better.

The question teams need to ask themselves is whether Terry moves up the board into a similar tier with Tyrese Maxey. Is Terry a tier ahead of guys like Bane, Riller, Tre Jones, etc. There are a bunch of guards in this draft that get bunched together once you get into the 20s.

Right now, I could see Terry go as high as 17 or 18 if teams believe in his upside as both a shooter and playmaker.

Im sure some teams have Maxey ahead of Terry and Terry ahead of Maxey.

BTW, this is the type of video that needs to come out for Jaden McDaniels. If McDaniels comes into the Combine after 6 or 7 months off and he hasn't worked much on his body, that's a really bad sign to me.

You really think he isnt working on his body? Lmao. These guys all signs to agencies and those agencies are the ones putting these dudes through workouts.

Just read Tony Jones's Q&A in The Athletic. Only one question about the draft.

Q: I like Malachi Flynn. Any chance they draft him or another PG to tutor under Conley?

A: I would say there is a chance. The Jazz like Flynn. I do as well. Good player. The Jazz also like Tyrell Terry, out of Stanford

Terry must have an incredible agent. Between the weight/height increase, that report that he "broke a record" for a basketball IQ test whatever that means... and now more good press

edit: This is his agent

Apparently he was a film producer before becoming a basketball agent. Interesting

People are saying he's the best shooter in the draft and it's kind of a modest PG draft (like I think Kira Lewis is the consensus top PG (unless you count the combos like Anthony/Ball/Hayes) in the draft, and its a pretty weak consensus). I could easily see him going top 10 or being there in the mid 20's. If he measures as an average sized PG with good athletic numbers it will be a big boost for him.

I definitely see the appeal of going with someone like Terry. Try to extend Conley for 2 more years or something then Terry (or any other guard) could potentially be ready to be a starter in their 3rd year. The lack of size obviously isnt ideal, but it's far from a deal breaker if he's competitive on defense.

Could Oni be that guy ?
