What's new

Following Potential 2020 draftees

So first a disclaimer - I'm a bit late to watching this year's prospects so help me out here. What is the reason Okoro is considered a better prospect than Patrick Williams? I'd take Williams over Okoro pretty easily from what I've seen.
Okoro is more aggressive on both ends. Much better on-ball defense.

@Joncolton: where's your info coming from?

Notes: Measured 6’4.5 without shoes, 6’5.5 with shoes, 207 lbs, with a 6’11.5 wingspan and 8’7.5 standing reach at the 2014 USA Junior National Team Mini Camp

From the 2015 - draftexpress report: -Doesn't have great height for the wing yet (around 6-5) but is extremely long with a near 7-foot wingspan, which allows him to play bigger than his size. - Source: http://www.draftexpress.com/profile/Robert-Woodard-85461/ ©DraftExpress

I'd rather have him be 6'7" with a 7'1" wingspan - and it's quite possible that's what he is now given this measurement is from 2014, and the other from 2015. But, I'm. not going to say he's 6'7" unless I can find an official measurement. I still have PTSD about Donovan and other key players shrinking in official measurements. Maybe, he measured 6'7 in this years combine, but given how chaotic this season's combine was - I'm not sure I would trust that 100% either. Of course, all that chaos in this year's draft and scouting could be the opportunity the Jazz need to find another diamond in the rough -and maybe Woodard is that guy. Maybe not. I also have concern about his inability to dribble well, and could see him having real problems playing in the tight spaces that NBA defenses are going to offer him.

Bruh he was 15/16 at this time lmao.

Spencer Pearlmen is a super connected scout, so I trust his reporting on Woodard.
He was the one that said Philly has a promise out to Isiah Joe (maybe it wasn't their first round pick doe).

I'm not excited about Robert Woodard in the first round, just as I wouldn't be excited about drafting Jamychal Green or James Johnson in the first round.

If you want a defensive-minded backup forward, there are several of them available around the league--Thad Young, Al Farouq Aminu, Taurean Prince, Mo Harkless, Glenn Robinson III, etc.

Three of the following 7 guys are expected to be available at #23: Josh Green, Cole Anthony, Jalen Smith, Desmond Bane, Aleksej Pokusevski, Jaden McDaniels, Theo Maledon.

We don't have to talk about Tyler Bey and Robert Woodard unless we're really hyped about them.

Cole Anthony, Jalen Green, Theo Maledon, Jaden Mcdaniels ... in that order.

U are wrong! James Johnson was a SOLID pick, Woodard isnt a defensive minded SF, he's a do-it-all type of player.

rumors floating that "several front offices are under the assumption LaMelo Ball is going #1"

word is Chicago, OKC and the Pistons are interested in moving up to get him..

Yup, Givony mentioned this in his latest article.

Also said Patrick Williams is the big winner of the pre-draft process so far. Getting looks at #4, and teams in the lottery are expecting he won't last past Detroit at 7 since they're very interested in him.

Picks belonging to the Sacramento Kings (No. 12), Boston Celtics (No. 14), Wolves (No. 17), Dallas Mavericks (No. 18), Brooklyn Nets (No. 19) and Miami Heat (No. 20) are the most prevalent in trade conversations lately.

End of the first round is completely up for grabs With the exception of the New York Knicks at No. 27, picks Nos. 21-30 include most of the best teams in the NBA, which will likely alter teams' decision-making here. Older prospects ready to play a role immediately will be at a premium, along with multipositional wings, backup point guards or centers, and potentially some international prospects willing to be stashed to conserve roster spots.

Also on The Lowe Post, Givony went in on Anthony Edwards.

His background was very difficult, he was bought and sold for most of his career. Every decision that was made for him was made under the guise of 'how do we keep this guy close and make sure we don't lose him.' it wasn't what's best for this kids development. It's like let's turn down USA Basketball invites, let's not send him to Montverde academy or IMG or a place where he's going to get pushed everyday in practice. And so, it was not, let's put him in the Nike EYBL where he's either going to sink or swim . It's going to be hard to make up for all the time that he's missed. The fact that he spent the last 8 months, obviously not getting into great shape. We saw in the pro day, to me he was huffing and puffing after 30 seconds. He was moving at half speed. That did nothing to ease my mind about those concerns, I just don't trust this guy.

I know he's out of our range, but does anyone else really like Kira Lewis? For some reason he's always the amateur scouting commenters' pick for being a bust. I hope he lands with the Knicks so Johnnie Bryant can teach him that layup package that improved Donovan so quickly. I think with his speed/lack of leaping ability, he could coach him up to still be an elite finisher around the rim.

Yeah, Givony and Schmitz are saying saying Ball is almost certain to go no. 1? I'm a bit baffled by that? Is this new? Or has it been known for a while? Is it a smokescreen?

Hollinger did a draft on The Athletic.

Ball did go #1.

Jazz got Josh Green
The Green drumbeat from Utah has been pretty loud, and one can see why a big guard who can defend and has playmaking capability might be a pretty attractive idea for a team like the Jazz.

Green’s background wasn’t totally clean but not anywhere near red flag territory either, and starting in the late teens a lot of teams are looking closely at him. He has size at 6-6, pretty good feet at the defensive end, and his shot isn’t broken. Once again, the big picture for draft night is that midsize players have a wind at their back while the point guards and centers swim against the tide.

Utah also has the same group of centers noted above as possibilities here, and nobody would be surprised if they went for Desmond Bane either (more on him below).

I'd be surprised if Green fell to 23.
Hollinger mentioned a the background check isn’t completely clean on him... said it wasn’t a big red flag... no idea what he’s talking about.

Bey, Woodard, or Green will be available... if we pass for Tre Jones I will vomit.

It probably just means he partied a lot.
