Following Potential 2025 Draftees

Kas and Tre could dace off if Texas makes it out of the first four, but I see a lot of people expecting Tre to get locked up by Dailyn Swain on Xavier.
 
Sincere question: is 5.4 assists to 3.0 turnovers a good, bad, or average ratio for a lead ball handler?
I feel like it's bad but maybe I'm wrong.

For a Freshman, those are very good numbers. The 5.4 assists is very high for the NCAA, and I don't typically worry too much about turnovers for Freshman.

Ultimately the film matters more than the numbers. Are the assists just passing it along the perimeter? Are the turnovers due to trying to do too much?

i agree with this.

Also, the reason some people are still very high on Demin is that you can't teach height and you can't teach vision/elite passing. when talking about a 19 year old frosh, you can correct turnover issues with coaching and experience and you can improve shooting. hell, we as jazz fans should know this better than anybody has we've literally seen it with our own rookie, one and done PG over the course of this very season.

not to mention the spacing of the NBA game probably helps Demin as much as any prospect. Demin obviously has major warts, and I won't begrudge anybody being down on him as a prospect (i'm pretty down on him myself), but those are the reasons some folks might still be high on him.

BYU's system and structure is close to ideal for him. Of course more spacing, better surrounding talent always helps....but he's not in one of those clogged toilet NCAA offenses.

I agree that his passing is legitimately elite and it's not just for his size. A lot of times we are too generous on rewarding guys for being at good at something "for his size", but I think Egor is the top passer regardless of size. Unfortunately his handle and shooting are truly awful right now. Looks like he can barely dribble against high-D1 pressure.

agree with everything you said there. it is a knock on him, without question, that he's struggled so much in BYU's system. regardless, the things he does well are things that can't really be taught. the ballhandling, the careless turnovers, the shooting, those are things that can be coached and improved with practice/experience.

if I'm drafting in the lottery - that's not a bet I'm willing to take. I'd take him late first. but i get it if some NBA people feel differently.

Yes, Egor has dropped, but he still remains an intriguing prospect to me because of his size and elite playmaking chops. If he learns to shoot, a team that drafts him will be glad they did.

The assists are often difficult high IQ passes. The turnovers are a mixed bag. Many low IQ bad decision turnovers and many just him being a poor ball handler

His issue is if he is a pg/primary ball handler then the handle has to be very good because of a high center of gravity. If he is a wing the shot needs to be much better as he will spend more time off ball. In addition... he doesn't have a lot of burst. The defense doesn't seem good but he has tools to be a plus.

I loved him when the shot was falling because it opens up a lot of routes for him to contribute with that passing. He needs a lot of work. I'd take him with the Minny pick still but we will have to be more patient than we normally are with him.
 
Demin has surprised me with a couple dunks in traffic. If he doesn’t get bumped off right away he can use his length for surprising finishes. It all comes back to strength.
 
I don't think Flagg has decided either way, obviously. I do think the fact that he is trying to get back (with a fairly bad sprain) and play in the tournament makes it more likely that he will stay in the draft. It is a dream for a lot of basketball players to play in the NCAA tournament. If he can tick that off his goals/dreams, especially with a very good chance of making the final four, then I think he goes to the draft. I may be wrong though and he just wants to get back to his team as a very competitive person and help his team win. On the other hand, I think who gets the first pick is a huge factor in whether he stays or goes. I do think he would stay if the Jazz get the 1st pick. I do not think he stays if Washington or Charlotte win. Not sure with Pelicans. He probably stays for any other team.
 
It's really interesting how you are the only one who knows the truth. Everybody else is wrong. Are you just as miserable in regular life.
