Following Potential 2025 Draftees

I think having a bland ~6’ 6” “PG” is maybe a cheat for building a champion (at least if you have some serious talent at other positions). I think a jumbo combo guard comports better with modern basketball, and if the counting stats are unspectacular (but they are solid regarding defense and efficiency) maybe you can keep them around for multiple contracts without breaking the bank.

I for one am somewhat obsessed with the idea of finding a player in this mold - at least/especially if we land a blue-chipper - and it just dawned on me that THE blue chip is already playing with one.
I'd take him in the second round but would expect third guard type of upside if things worked out.

I was looking up stuff about Kon and his younger brother (2nd oldest brother) is a 6'8 sophomore. He isnt ranked yet or anything, but damn, too bad Kon didnt get that height.
I think I have done a complete 180 on Kon. I am all the way in now. But he has a lot of brothers and I wonder if he is the worse brother... maybe we want one of the other Kneuppels.

Yeah, I've realized that all of my distaste for him were based on limited sample size (I saw a few of his games where he wasn't good) and superficial things (he doesn't look like an NBA player).

If you really look at his season as a whole and what he can do, he is a very interesting prospect. I think the Alabama game really swayed me.

Like I am asking myself... why take Ace who has all the tools but might be like Rudy Gay or a guy like Kon that might be Bane type dude with a touch more size (less athleticism) who knows how to play basketball. We need guys that know how to play basketball and can shoot the effs out of it.

He also picked up his rebound and steal rates as the season moved along (they were kinda too low) and he started the season off not shooting it well. So everytime I watched I was like "why this guy in the lotto?".

I saw this thrown out there somewhere and thought it was interesting:

If the Jazz got the number one pick, would you trade Flagg for Giannis? Pretend salary matching isn't a thing.

A 6'11'' future Hall of Famer who already carried one meh team to a championship and is also a bona fide physical freak with one of the greatest motors of all time... versus a 6'7'' college player who'll soon realize that everyone playing his position in the League is at least as tall, long, quick and athletic as him?

Where do I sign?

Seriously. Flagg is a nice player but he'll be much closer to Gordon Hayward in the NBA than most people realize. It would be the height of insanity not to do this deal.

I'm going to deep dive in to his defense and playmaking before I get him too high, but yeah, I'm pretty sure I had him in the teens on my last big board I posted, and now I would have him firmly at 7 I think.

Can Flagg play sg? Just wondering if a Kessler, Collins, Markkanen, Flagg, Collier lineup work?

Can he guard 2’s?
Flagg will likely be able to guard like 1-4 about as well as anyone in the league when he is fully formed. Not sure that is the lineup you would want tho lol.

If it's only for the #1 pick that's an easy easy yes for me. I guess with a small caveat that he's okay coming here. Cooper seems great and could be really great, but chances are pretty low of him getting to his level. Plenty of people were pretty highly rated and didn't get there.

I think Giannis has at least 6 years of high level play. Him and Lauri would be a great duo plus a **** ton of picks and young decent players to expand.

you sorta answered your own question: ace has all the tools. that also doesn't mean that ace couldn't be rudy gay (or worse) and that Kon might be Bane.

But Ace could also be KD-lite and Kon could be Nick Stauskas.

FTR, i've been a huge fan of Kon since i first saw him at duke this year. it was clear he knows how to play, he's not just a shooter, but a scorer, can pass and moves his feet extremely well defensively. but the reasons ace will go earlier the draft than Kon are pretty apparent.

This is stupid, but I am actively trying to dislike white players at this point because all of the players I like most are white. I don’t know what’s happening lately in the talent pool.

Giannis being unable to shoot a basketball from beyond more than a few feet is a serious complication in his ability to sustain his play.

The Rudy Gay thing was like... if Ace figures it out but it never fires on all cylinders I guess. I just don't see KD-lite at all. He's young and could fill out pretty nicely tho. I like him but he's scary.

I saw Stauskas his rookie year in person up really close and was immediately like "yeah those twig legs aren't gonna do it". Kon is built like a brick (for good and bad). I don't know if I will have Kon top 4 but I'm questioning what I would do if I was sitting there. We do need to take a swing on finding the guy and Ace could be that so maybe it is too good of an opp to pass on.

In the 15-19 ft range where he takes 81% of his jumpshots, he's second in volume to Demar Derozan and shooting better than everyone other than Kevin Durant.

Uhhh… yeah this seems like some weird stat cherry-picking ****.

70% of his shots are within ten feet. He shoots worse than 43% on shots outside 10 feet (this is perhaps as much an argument against midrange shots themselves as it is a criticism of Giannis’ relative efficiency in converting them).
