What's new

For stoked GAME THREAD!!

Exum looks so rattled.

I had him pegged of having high bust potential. I really hope it isn't true. What a waste it will be if he busts.

I'm not saying he is a bust, he just needs a lot of work.

A lot of work indeed.

I am surprised at how good he can shoot 3's though.

So...Favors with another good game. Trey, Rodney, Gobert and Booker also came to play.

3 of those are Bigs not named Kanter. Would it surprise anyone if Booker and Gobert end up having more of a positive impact in their minutes than Kanter this season?

I would not be. Kanter still seems so raw. One would figure that he'd know what he's doing by now. Still have high hopes for him tho. At this point he seems on par with Koufos, sadly.

No.

Does this comment mean that you are now seeing his speed? I agree with what you are saying, BTW. I am not even slightly surprised that he has a ton of learning to do.

I never said he wasn't fast....

I just don't see elite speed. Elite speed is Derrick Rose, Ty Lawson, John Wall and Russel Westbrook. If we want to consider Exum a PG and have him defend PG's, I'm not even sure he is in the top 15 of speed at the PG position.

He should watch some Fesenko tapes and learn how to suck the correct way. At least Fes knew/acted like he knew he sucked.

There once was this pick for Utah who got drafted after having played 4 years in college. His rookie season he played in all 82 games, but only 18 mins per. He averaged 6/5, on 47%/18% shooting. Next season his mins increased to 23/per. He was still dismal from 3-pt range, but shot 49% overall and averaged 8/7. His third season he was still the backup, again averaging around 23 mins and 8/8. He didn't start until he was 25 years old.

That young man turned out to be a pretty good PG. Is Exum raw? YES, VERY!!! But he's only 19. I'm withholding all judgment for at least 3 years.

This. I'm not worried about Exum yet. He has a lot of growing to do.

I'm in agreement here. He doesn't look as fast as he was advertised.

It's called fandom. And really, IDGAF what you think. I'm a Jazz fan to the end.

Me too, although last season was not very enjoyable to watch. Didn't care about the losses per se...it was the lack of direction on offense and defense that killed it for me.

I'm probably in the small boat that doesn't think Corbin was an awful coach, but he was an extremely boring coach.

At this point, I expect Gobert to have a better career and be more valuable than Kanter. Probably Favors too. He just might be our most valuable asset at this point and we don't realize it. That's not a huge knock on Favors or Kanter. I'm thinking Gobert could possibly be a great player.

Kanter I don't understand yet though. He seems kinda dumb sometimes by the way he plays. But then shows signs of being really skilled. He's got a weird combination going on. He has a smooth jumper, but his passing sucks. He's built like supreme athlete, but doesn't move like one.

Fine, and our definition of fandom is obviously different. Personally, I was not enjoying being a fan of a team that was so poorly coached, so I'm thrilled that we are now seeing the true potential of these players, and I think it will be a significant and legitimate narrative for this entire season and beyond. I neither get why it bothers you that people are mentioning this, nor do I think there's a chance that people will quit talking about it just because you have moved on.
