What's new

For the Kanter cry babies.

At worst Kanter is like a 10-10 guy, his upside is to high for us to be complaining about drafting him 3rd especially with the lack of talent in the 2011 draft anyways

At worst Kanter is a poor man's Al Jefferson who can't get his shot off.

he's already shown he can be a MUCH better PnR defender. He's much stronger. He'll show himself to be a better individual and team rebounder the second he is able to stay on the floor.

All this means one thing: his game isn't comparable to Al's because Al has never been anything but a tricky offensive player.

Lets also remember that Kanter is three years YOUNGER then your precious Kenneth Faried, not to mention much larger.

He's also a year younger and much larger than Tristan Thompson.

We will see how Jonas does but I don't expect much, when has a skinny euro center done much in the NBA? Not to mention he has no offensive post game at all.

Remember Kanter played no college basketball and didn't play competitively for quite some time. Also remember how long it took Bynum to develop, which I think is a good bar to watch Kanters growth.

Enes has already proven to be an elite rebounder and capable defender. Once his outside shot starts falling and he understands more how to use his strength he will be a top big man in the league.

Keep on singing an old song. We already know the story on Enes Kanter.

You can only hope Kanter gets his motor running.

Agree for the most part with OP, but think Jonas V will be a very good player. Jonas V is also very young so if Kanter can get better so can he. Smits, Divac are examples of skinny Euros who did well.

Nick Collison heavy is my floor for him. IMO there is just too much stock being put into the guy not having developed NBA skills yet. Once he gets it he's gonna be setting killer screens. That's a brick wall Kanter is packing around and he's pretty mobile. The hustle is there, and I think he loves the game.

Ceiling being Hulky Collison with better shooting touch and Al's footwork.

He also shows poor ability to pick n roll, like Al.
Shows poor passing instincts, like Al.
Is a post centric player, like Al.
Is a good positional rebounder, but not an out of area reboudner, like Al.
Is a slow reactor, like Al.

Right now he is a poor man's Al Jefferson who can't get his shot off effectively. I would say his current level of ability would be his floor, as he probably won't get any worse and it's possible (though unlikely) that he is currently peaked.

I think there were 5 or 6 guys last year that averaged a double double in the NBA. Off of his offensive rebounding alone, Kanter could probably get 6 points a game. With that said, the Jazz don't have to rely too much on his offensive game. As long as he can clog the lane and rebound the ball, he'll be a pretty pick imo.

Anyone expecting Enes to be more than a 14 and 10 guy are sadly mistaken. He is never going to be a go to guy in the post, but I think he can be a functional scorer when needed. He should get 3 or 4 put backs a game, knock down a few 15 footers, clog the lane, clean the glass, wear out the opposing center, and just be a handsome son of a bitch. What more are you guys expecting?

Well Jefferson is the one teaching Kanter so what can you expect? He's not learning from the best...

That's what I want. If he does that, he'll be a top 5 or so center in the league. After all, the centers in the NBA are rather poor.

Why do you think he will not be a scorer in the post? I certainly think he could still be that for us.

I think he can score, but he isn't going to be a guy that gets 20 + plays a game run for him, more off of put backs and short jumpers ( he has a damn nice stroke). But to say he is going to get the ball in the post and score at will consistently is a bit of a stretch.

This. Repped!

(but you mean 10 & 14)

I'd settle for 30 mins of tough-nosed play, a double-double, and smashing the bejeepers out of any guard who dares to drive the lane. And it doesn't even have to be dirty. With that solid body, just step on front of the guy. He'll bounce off hard and think twice before doing it again.

I don't think 14/10 would be that hard for him to average. He can easily get that many boards now along with a few putbacks. Just refine his game a little more (a good hook shot?) and he'd have the tools to do it. Right now he's pretty predictabel with the up and under.
