Ford Mock 5.0

I don't think Schroeder will be there. In a draft with limited upside, he is one of the few players that has huge upside and at a spot of need. If the Jazz think he is draftable at #21, they shouldn't risk losing the greater position of need by passing on him at #14. That said I like the possibility of players like Nogeira, Dieng, Plumlee and Olynyk being there at #21 than Schroeder still being there.

Take the future PG first, then take your 3rd big later.

New Chad Ford mock draft is up:

https://insider.espn.go.com/nba/draft2013/story/_/id/9398251/2013-nba-draft-chad-ford-mock-draft-50

14. Lucas Nogueira ("The Jazz have been high on Nogueira for a while...")
21. Dennis Schroeder

He also claims to know that "the team also likes Murray State's Isaiah Canaan -- a lot."

If this really happened, I would be estatic. We would need to fill out the roster with some vets but, Schroeder and Nogueira have good length and athletic ability.

Nogueira fits as a power forward next to Favors and Kanter. And of course we need a talented PG coming onto the team. They are both young developing players and if we can hit on one of the two I see that as a big success.

What makes you think any PG we draft in this draft will every be a starter in the NBA? I am becoming more and more down the PG's in this draft.

Welcome to what I was saying was to be this draft back in 2010. ;)

Next year would be a blast with Bebê backing up Favors, and Kanter.

Talk about a complete reversal from last year's bigs.

You know even though I am excited for the draft, none of these players projected for the Jazz excite me anymore. Draft overload?

I love Canaan at #46, but hate him at #21. The only game I watched of him was when Nate Wolters destroyed him. Wolters shot over him because he is 4-5 inches taller and on the defensive end bothered him because of his height an length.

I agree. Good bigs are very hard to find in the late half of the lottery or lower. This year, there will probably be a few decent prospects available at #14. I say draft our 3rd big and then look at a backup PG (or BPA) at #21. Tinsley can return for one more season and the Jazz can go the FA route to find a one-year fix as a starter. We're trying to tank anyway, right? So sign a Brevin Knight or Jason Hart type player on the cheap instead of paying $7M/per for Mo Williams on a long-term deal. Then the Jazz look for longer-term solutions at the trade deadline or in next year's draft.

That is why I maintain a fair distance till draft night and get excited about our guys afterwards.

No need. Plenty of people here will vouch that I nauseatingly pleaded for a PG via FA because there would be a drought until 2014. I called '11 - '13 as weak years.
Just kidding. I know you did. "Link (or Pic) or it didn't happen" is the running joke on this board. You've been pretty accurate on two-three year forecasts of drafts. Not sure anyone else on this board follows college and HS basketball like you do.
