Free Agency 2012 Thread

Thought Hibbert getting the max would be talked about more in this thread, while he is a good player I can't see him being a max player. Although this link does explain the new CBA max is lower (which I knew but didn't know exact numbers).

The offer sheet Hibbert has verbally agreed to with Portland is reportedly for four years and worth about $58 million.

Also random thought, as we all know Blazers have offered Jazz FA's and we all felt they are intentionally messing with the Jazz and what team do the Jazz have a lot of similarities with the Pacers (just look at the past several drafts of them taking the player the Jazz wanted and vice versa with Hayward).

Hibbert is a max player in this league. He's productive and 7 foot 2. I don't think he's one of those "headscratcher" signings. I'm kind of waiting to see if the Pacers match the offer.

I think the Blazers like messing with RFA's in order to mess up the competition's salary situation. It's karma that Batum is getting a massive offer from the wolves.

Orlando would have to accept a package of Brook Lopez, Kris Humphries, Gerald Wallace, MarShon Brooks and multiple future first-round draft picks, and the Howard deal would take the form of a massive sign-and-trade. SheridanHoops

This isn't free-agent related, but I'd love to see the Warriors give up a lot to get Howard for a year. They still seem willing: https://www.sbnation.com/nba/2012/7/2/3131643/nba-trade-rumors-dwight-howard-golden-state-warriors. Granted, I would only be happy with this if Howard went elsewhere after the one year. I'd be kind of pissed if the W's somehow convinced him to re-sign.

Wouldn't that be funny. Warriors dump their assets for a one year rental of mopey D. Howard. I approve.

If the Nets pull off this trade with the Magic (and with three first rounders I believe it is about as fair value as it's going to get) Deron Williams will surely sign with the Brooklyn Nets.

Also, there are a lot of rumors that the Jet is looking hard at the Celtics, and the Celtics are looking back.

Howard Beck: Nets are using midlevel exception to sign Teletovic to 3-yr deal. Means: 1. they cannot go over $74 mil payroll. 2. Can't use MLE for Kidd Twitter

Interesting. I have no idea who this guy is. He played overseas. Does anyone know anything about him?

He wasn't on my radar at all. He's from Bosnia, he's a PF, and in the Euroleague last year he averaged 22 points and 6 rebs per game while shooting almost 44% on 3's. Sounds like a solid player.

However he's more like a shooter scorer. He's actually a bit selfish on the offense, kinda a chucker. He has definitely a great shooting touch but he also may has cold stretches frequently, you can see him shooting 2 for 15 etc.

Raptors just signed Landry Fields to a backloaded contract. This essentially is a play to knock the Knicks out of the race for Steve Nash. Apparently the deal is 3/20 but with year 3 being for 15 million dollars.

The good news is he probably won't get the chance to be too much of a chucker if D-Will re-signs with the Nets, because obviously D-Will and Joe Johnson would combine for a lot of shots.

Thanks for the info guys. He looks like a tough-euro (Who would have thought :) )

Although it won't happen anytime soon with the new CBA in place, I really think something needs to be done about restricted FA's signing frontloaded and backloaded contracts.

That being said, Landry's offer sheet isn't as extreme as Asik's and as Lin's could be. From Hoopshype: "Alex Kennedy: It sounds like Landry Fields' new deal would pay him $5 million in year one, $5.2 million in year two and $9.8 in year three. Poison pill. Twitter"

Of course, the same Alex Kennedy also tweeted about the Jazz not picking up the option on Jamaal Tinsley, right before they picked up the option. So take it for what it's worth. I haven't seen any other year by year figures.

Jason Terry to the Celtics looking likely. From Hoopshype again: "Marc J. Spears: Celtics are in final discussions on terms of a multi-year deal with Mavericks free agent guard Jason Terry, sources tells Yahoo! Sports. Twitter"
