Free agent frenzy!

I would love for the jazz to get rid of bell and use every cent they have to go after Aaron Brooks. Burks/Hayward drive to the basket, dish it out to Brooks for the three.

Isn't Brooks in China and cannot play until like the end of March?

Gasol looked great with Randolph drawing double and triple teams. On his own, not so much.

A Favors/Gasol combo doesn't make your mouth water? Offensively it is not a top tier combo, but they would clear up a lot of the defensive mistakes from the other guys. It would be a nasty combo.

I'm just as happy with a Favors/Kanter or Favors/Jefferson combo. Happier, actually.

I still think favors is going to be our future center and I would rather have money to spend on our young guys than to tie it up in gasol!

I am so happy that this thing is nearing an end. Here is a little tidbit about the Jazz plans are for the FA market.

According to Brian T Smith

"Utah’s coaches have been meeting for months in preparation of the lockout ending and the 2011-12 season finally starting. Corbin has evaluated the pros and cons of changing Utah’s playing style, and the team already has free agents targeted."

The Jazz need a guard who can actually play like a guard. Seriously. They have to be looking to improve their backcourt. They practically don't have one. Harris isn't super durable and plays like a combo. Price is lucky to be in the league. Earl Watson is a so-so back-up.

Where's the list of current FAs ?
Earl Watson is a so-so backup? WTF are you talking about? Earl Watson was the best backup PG the Jazz have had since Stockton was backing up Green.

I know this is a free agency thread, but, I think Okur for Farmar and Petro and a draft pick of some sort makes sense. I like Farmar, I think he'd be an excellent option as a backup PG, able to start in a pinch. Why would NJ do this? They clear cap space for a Dwight Howard run.

I will get destroyed for this, but why not keep Okur let him expire, and spend the money next year when we have roster spots open, and see what the young guys can do now, or if he proves he's healthy resign him cheap and still have money to spend.

I kind of agree with you. It hard to see the Jazz as major players in free agency this year, there are just too many questions with our young guys. Let’s take this truncated season and see what the young guns look capable of and then play the free agent market in the summer.

Thats what I've wanted from the start.

If we went after a backup PG not named Watson, I would be down for making a run at Shannon Brown.

Same. This is no time to panic or get hasty. Just play it cool, and get a better feel for our young nucleus before making any big trades or signings. For now, the only necessity is signing on a backup PG and making another small signing so we can reach the minimum player count.
