Free Agent PG's

i think jennings teague and moreso CP3 could provide us with a Mike Conley type player, plus we have more of a surrounding cast than the Grizz, thats why i made this thread. Spend some $ on a PG, and draft a PG!!!

Did you just say CP3 could be a Mike Conley type player?

I agree with the sentiment to focus on getting a PG, but some of what you say is just absurd.

i mean put it whatever context you want to call it, i didnt say mike conley is better than CP3

im saying the jazz dont have a guard like mike conley, im saying i want to pay for one, dont mind the cost/downside
theres other players in the league that can play mike conleys role for memphis, some can do it better (see CP3)
if the jazz had that type of player in that type of role, i like their chances to really compete in the west, i think we could really grab ahold of peoples attention next year if the correct PG(s) is procured

Ahh, gotcha. It was just worded funny then.

to me trading deron for all sorts of Wing and Big type players than clearing salary cap space, and buying a big name PG for $$ you have to spend, and can afford to spend, is a major powermove, it kind of in a way completes the Deron Trade, brings it full circle

especially if they land CP3... to me it would almost seem like they traded the #3 pick for crazy assets, clearing his salary and attitude, kept the salary low, then payed the guy they should have taken #3, while the returned assets for the pick are still in pricelocked, rookie salaries for years to come... now thats return on investment...

I went back and looked at the draft where DWill and CP3 were drafted and was surprised that Marvin Williams was drafted ahead of both as the second pick.

the most insane thing about that, is the hawks had no PGs other than Speedy Claxton and Tyronn Lue

Ya.. now if only Pee would say yes..

I know you like Rondo, PKM..

But I'd rather take a punt on Schroeder ... he at least has shown the potential to shoot a 3pt shot consistently.

Plus he's younger, cheaper, more upside, less drama...

i agree with this except for the drama part, Schroeder might adjust to NBA life too well, if u know what im saying. i think Utah is a good fit for Schroeder for many reasons

Rondo wouldent bring Drama really it would be much heightened attention on Utah because of his presence, with Rondo comes great expectations...

i prefer to roll the dice on the kids also, plus rondo will cost a kings ransom, i dont even want to think about what wed have to trade for him

we could trade for rondo and draft schroder too

Starts at the top. Lindsey has a great character. Can't quite see how Ty would manage a Rondo/Schroeder type personality... we need a coach who can do that.

im not worried about Schroder lashing out on teammates, he seems like a warrior and a fun guy with a genuine smile/laugh.
Schroeder worries me with fiery reactions on court, and maybe off the court stuff, he seems like hes a partyer

rondo can be handled by Ty, at least for next year because Rondo needs to be eased into a situation.

im sure Rondo would love a chance to get out of the public eye in boston and get ready to capitalize on having a good bunch of years left on a good young team, as he is 27 right now. i like the fit, i just dont want to trade the proper assets for someone of Rondo's Resume, thats all.

Rondo has a lot of good qualities in him.. but to be honest I think he is a bad fit for our inside-out offense. Rondo needs to play in a team with lots of good shooters waiting on the wing. We don't have that right now. If we drafted Kerasev and have McCollum play off guard, yeah may be.

you dont not pull the trigger on rondo over the surrounding shooters, we can find shooters. didnt we just pull the Jazz single season 3pt maker off the FA scrap heap last season?

Steve Novak was like a 27yo Journeyman who led the league in qualified % 2 seasons ago "outa nowhere".

James Southerland and Timmy Jr are great fits if we get rondo, as is CJ McCollum and KCP

... but we're still 28th in 3pt made this past season.

but Marvin and Mo were supposed to be our reinforcements for the shooters last year, Foyes the only who really panned out in that regard

Teague shot 36% 3's and Jennings shot 37.5%, Paul shot 33%

if Hayward can shoot near 40% and Burks can shoot near 36% again + we can plug in one of these PG's

grab a shooting SF like Glen Rice Jr or James Southerland, we have lots of firepower on the perimeter, even with Rondo

Hmm.. yeah still not liking the extra pass Rondo will always have to make to find shooters when Favors/Kanter passes back out.

- Burke is a good shooter
- McCollum is a good shooter
- Schroeder has potential
- Larkin is a good shooter

All these guys seem to be willing passer as well, I think there's enough there for us rather than breaking the bank to get Rondo..
