Free Agent Rumors Thread

Good post overall and i agree with it (we dont need any more players on this team until we figure out what we have.... like you said, maybe at the trade deadline make some moves...... trade burke)

To answer your questions....
I am VERY confident burks can be a quality starting 2 guard.

I dont know if trey will ever be a good shooter (he certainly isnt right now) but i am pretty sure he is better off being a backup. (I thought this when we drafted him)

I think exum will develop into one of the premier (top 5) POINT GUARDS in the league

I dont think exum will ever be a really good shooter (lillard, curry, irving) but i dont think he needs to be.
i think he will be a good enough scorer without being a good shooter (like cp3 and tony parker) and i think he will get to the line alot

I think tony parker is a good comparison..... but i think he will be a better passer.

Honestly believe we have our superstar/TRUE max player

Why not have 2 great pointguards in your back court? I would like to see this play out, I mean we have a ton of raw young talant. No one knows what they are all capable of yet under Quin Snyder. It's obvious most of us have been upset by the restrictions on our young talant's playing minutes set by Coach Tyrone Corbin. Quin is the specialist here, that's why we have him as our new coach. Trey said there is a lot more freedom in their offense. Let's just see what he does with them, it could end up working out a lot like Curry/Thompson. A great backcourt is pretty scary! We do need talant coming off from the bench, Jazz usually have had a strong bench when we were in playoff standings.
I say it's MUCH, MUCH too early to be making any of these calls. We need to grow like OKC and share the ball like Spurs.

I will say this, though. 10,000 at practice? standing ovation for Exum? If that's not a welcome to being our franchise super-star, I don't know what is.

Spot on.
I think Exum WILL be a great scorer, but not a great shooter. So we'll need to pair him up with a true SG who can hit from outside. In that respect, my hope is that Burks maybe takes on a Ginobili role and becomes one of the best 6th men in the league. But the decision is a ways off; it will take Exum a couple of years to develop.

As for Burke, some are finally seeing what I've been slammed on for saying about him the past year. It was evident in summer league last season that he didn't have the quickness to be a successful short PG. If you're a midget for the position, you better be quick and be a good penetrator and a good shooter. Trey is neither. But I don't really care; I was one of the first (if not the first) to advocate trading AK. Fortunately no neg reps back in those days or I would have probably been in the red.

I'm calling it right now: Burke's career will model that of Earl Watson. he likely gets another shot at being a starter somewhere else after his rookie contract is up. But any team he goes to will always be looking to upgrade. My prediction is he'll be dealt with other assets for a veteran starter/6th man at a position of need for Utah. I see that trade happening next summer or at the trading deadline in 2016 when Exum is the unquestioned lead guard and Utah has someone like Neto who can be a quality back up.

Good post. Let's all hope Burks spent the entire summer working on his outside shooting. I'm talking like 1000 threes a day. :)

Reminds me of Isaiah Thomas, and he is quick, but the Kings have been looking to deal him for years, and they finally did.

Burke looked bad in summer league last year and looked a lot better in the NBA

I don't think Burke is as bad as people are saying lately. I don't think he is star, but definitely a starter in the league. He's a better shooter than given credit for. Certainly a lot better than Watson. His offensive game isn't that bad really. He isn't the quickest, but he plays smart.

I don't see the Jazz giving up so quick. I think Trey ends up being the starter all year. I say that believing Exum will be much better than him.

And Isaiah can actually shoot and score. He's a career 45%/36% shooter. Last season he did average 6 assists/per, but he probably didn't get the ball to Cousins enough/ I think Phoenix got a great deal and is now free to trade Dragic or Bledsoe for an all-star quality player at another position.

So do I. Exum is raw and just not ready to be the starter. That's why I'm predicting a trade next summer or even at the 2016 deadline. Will also net more if Jazz can trade him as a starter instead of as a substitute.

Which is the definition of the pre-Utah Watson. Take away Earl's last 4 seasons when he was clearly just hanging on. For Memphis and Seattle, Earl's main teams in his first 7 seasons, he was about a 43%/34% shooter, sometimes as a starter, but primarily as a valuable backup. Trey doesn't turn the ball over. but he's not a great playmaker, either. This is a quick guards league and Trey is a couple of steps too slow.

Names for Jazz for a veteran wing in free agency - Richard Jefferson or Fransico Garcia. Or keep eye on Al-Faouq Aminu

David Locke @Lockedonsports
Al-Farouq Aminu is absurd athlete. 23 years old. Former 8th pick. 6'9 215. Poor shooter. Strong rebounder. Might be worth addition

I really hope the Jazz get him, hes an Excellent teammate, and whats most important is hes much better than Malcolm Thomas.
