You'd prefer Ayon over Tomic?

If were talking about Bigs that dont jump much, i prefer Kevin Seraphin over Ayon tbh.

I definitely like these players over Ayon too;

Ekpe Udoh
Jeremy Tyler
Cole Aldridge
Andray Blatche
Ante Tomic

Have to pay a buyout to get Tomic over.

Udoh sucks.
Tyler sucks.
Aldridge sucks.
Blatche would cost too much?

Ayon just seems like a perfect backup to me. I don't know where you get this "He wants too many minutes to preserve his career" from. He is a better player than all of those you listed (besides Blatche and Tomic). He is a dude who is going to come in and play solid basketball and not hurt us with bad decision making or selfishness (unlike Blatche).

Think Ayon would cost barely above the minimum too.

PG_AB, Cole Alrdrich signed with the Knicks.

Great. I like Jeremy Tyler better, he just turned 23 last month too. He wont take any minutes away either, he needs to get better at not being foul prone, I know he just had a kid and would probably take a small deal for some security for a few years, hes still got plenty of room to improve.

I'd prefer Gobert playing 30 min. rather than him going 15 and Ayon getting 15, yeah no question.

OK, so Favors or Kanter get injured, who plays the minutes Gobert was playing?

What if Gobert gets injured?

You have to have more than 3 legit bigs. Right now we have 3 bigs (Kanter/Gobert/Favors) and 4 stretch/tweener 4's (Murphy, Novak, Evans, and Thomas) who aren't really rebounders or able to defend average 4's.

Sure 2 of those 4's will get cut and we will add on another big.

What is PGAB obsession with signing young players who were 1st round picks who aren't any good?

Risk/Reward.

I repped Gerald Green when no one would give him a deal either... Patrick Beverley... Jeremy Lin... Shaun Livingston... D.J Augustin... shall i go on?

One of the original players i repped like that was infact Steve Novak...

While I don't necessarily disagree with you, let's look at it another way. Favors, Kanter and Gobert can all play the 5 if necessary so we don't need to sign a legit 5. It could be someone like that Robin Roberts who pgab brought up. And even if one of those guys does get hurt, who cares? I want our guys to show legitimate development both individually and collectively. I want our guys to play way more competitively and intelligently than they they under Corbin. I want there to finally be a clear vision for this team and an identity that is embraced by our players. But I also want a full on tank without full on tanking. If that makes sense.

I don't think the Jazz are trying to not sign talent to tank like they did last year.

Evidence: Trading for Novak.

I think there is a strong chance we might get Ayon because of the Atlanta/Snyder connection.

I don't disagree but Novak is probably hoped to be a rotation guy. We're not currently talking about a rotation guy in Ayon and others. We're talking abut a 5mpg sort of like Jeremy Evans.

I'm all for just getting some d-league guy who busts his ***, gives it his all on defense, and maybe could score a few buckets if needed.

Meh, I see Ayon as a Jarron Collins type. Seems like a hard worker, going to make the right plays. I think we need someone like that more than we need a D-League dude.

Ebanks short looks infinitely better than I remember it. Sign this guy. Now. A strong defender who is strong, long, can play the 3 or 4, and now maybe it the three? WTF. I'm on board. Especially with Novak here to maybe mentor him.

Ebanks is clearly the best player on the D-League select squad, he hit the game-winner yesterday. Devin turns 25 in late october, I'm all for it.

We have to be worried about defense while we still have starters that can't play defense.

you can raise the quality of your defense -- overall -- by stocking your bench with a few defensive specialists, teaching the principles, and making your starters very accountable. If you get yanked and replaced by a specialist, practice with that guy everyday, etc... you'll become a better defender.
