Freedom Of Speech

If any classified information is in the book, the guy should definitely get in trouble for publishing it. Hopefully he at least thought about what he was writing and the impact it could have on future missions. The one good thing about this is that proceeds will go to charity organizations that benefit the families of fallen SEALs.

Difficult to say. Freedom of Speech protects him from government censorship, however, freedom of speech does not protect you from other things such as getting fired.

The SEAL who wrote the book is retired, so that wouldn't be an issue for him.

I have problems with the looseness of the definition of freedom of speech, freedom of the press, etc.

I admit it's difficult to know where to draw the line, but I am so pissed at some media outlets (perhaps most is more accurate) and some individuals that I want to form a vigilante group or somoething. I am SO sick and tired of shock journalism and everyone else out there that treats 'news' as nothing more than a meal ticket and their audience as nothing more than complete morons.

What do you think? Depending on what he said he might endanger other special teams and I would have a problem with that.
How would this book affect them:

Seriously though, like was said in the article, anything in that book that's still classified will probably find the author in a **** load of trouble.

He's going to get a lot of backlash, and hatred from other military members. He sold out, and has to live with that.

Legally it looks like he was fine, but morally he is bankrupt.

You mean for the fame/notoriety? It doesn't seem like he's going to profit from the actual book itself (although I guess that he could make money from interviews and tv appearances and such).

This. Bravo.
