Frightened we will lose Pogo to Free Agency

Sorry guys, but im worried he'll choose a team where he'll get more playiing time. Unfortunately, millsap and big al will both have 1 more year left on there deals after this year , and Kanter/Favors are going nowhere.

Also, some team will overpay and we won't be able to compete with their offer. This guys should be part of our core, but im getting concerned it won't happen. We should let Josh Howard and CJ Miles walk this offseason, and pump all our money into the pogo. Also, maybe we can deal millsap or big al to open up playing time.

What doyou guys think? is he at least restricted, so we can match offers?

I love the guy and I hope the Jazz get to keep him. However, he's a very limited player, and it would not make a difference to the team if he's gone.

He won a slam dunk game. Yes, he is fun to watch and yes, he seems to have 'potential'. But he is probably on the 3rd or 4th level of team building concerns for me.
Cant keep them all.

He has no sf skills and is too undersized to be an undersized pf. If a team over spends on Evans it means they never scouted him no one will over spend on a guy with no position and all he does is dunk.

Evans is fun to watch and a great guy, but by no means is he a guy that will ever be a part of a championship team, unless if he's like the 11th or 12th man that essentially doesn't play.

Who cares if we lose Evans to Free Agency? I'm not afraid we'll lose him. Out of all of my concerns over this team that is near the bottom. He is just not good enough to worry about.

Guy wins a dunk contest and suddenly everyone thinks he's the next Millsap.

Did you watch the game last night? He mishandled like 3 passes in the span of 2 minutes. I like the guy, he's a fan favorite, but nothing I've seen out of him the past two years has indicated that he could ever be a real difference maker.

Evans has said he likes being the "energy guy" off the bench. He will never be a go-to guy to score unless it's a nice lob. I hope they keep him, but that he can be okay with that role. It would probably be the same role on basically any team, and any fans are going to love him. If he's okay with all that, I'd love him to stay, because I think he's a great kid with a great attitude, and we can always use that. Gotta have our Early-oops to Evans.

It's a shame that we haven't got a longer look at him at the D-League. I have no idea what the guy can do in long spurts at any level.

other then a fan favorite i dont see a big deal with him leaving, but it will still suck if he does.unless the jazz can get something worth value

If we trade Millsap (as I have suggested), we won't have to worry about losing Jeremy in free agency. Favors and Evans are our future at the PF position. Both players have unbelievable athleticism and a great deal of potential. Those who still favor Millsap need to realize that Paul should not be more than a 4th/5th starting option or a 6th man on a playoff contender. We should trade him now so we can good value back in return.

He totally deserves another deal $1.5-$2 million per year. For me, he's an 8th or 9th player. Apparently he's working hard on his shot. If he's mishandled some passes, well, that's what happens when you DNP all season. Give him a more defined role, however limited that might be. There are times when this team is just passionless out there... inserting Evans in those situations makes a lot of sense. He'll do a few WOW things that get things moving in a different direction. I'm thinking of the Knicks game in particular, when no Jazz player had a pulse... I'd have put Evans in.

This.

You shouldn't doubt the man. If he earns an efficient jumper he could do a little damage.

Seems to me he should be learning to score near the basket with other shots besides a dunk. Isn't he similar in build to that Prince guy that played with Detroit? He should watch some film of that guy. and play SF for goodness sakes. Just stop going for the pump fakes.

but yea, every player on the team should develop a 3 point shot that they can hit for 40%+, but until they do, they should work on other stuff too

This just in:

Multiple red-bar posters on Jazzfanz think the 5th best big on the Jazz is important.

And I like Evans. But please, let's get real.
