Frightened we will lose Pogo to Free Agency

Sorry guys, but im worried he'll choose a team where he'll get more playiing time. Unfortunately, millsap and big al will both have 1 more year left on there deals after this year , and Kanter/Favors are going nowhere.

Also, some team will overpay and we won't be able to compete with their offer. This guys should be part of our core, but im getting concerned it won't happen. We should let Josh Howard and CJ Miles walk this offseason, and pump all our money into the pogo. Also, maybe we can deal millsap or big al to open up playing time.

What doyou guys think? is he at least restricted, so we can match offers?

I sense some sarcasm. Hopefully I'm right.

Well he won the dunk contest as a member of the jazz, pretty sure thats like his peak

Both Howard and Miles can put up 30 pts at times.
Evans will never be able to do that.

I like Evans as a person, but what does he really bring to this team going forward? He gets just a little bit more playing time than I do. It's probably in his best interest to move on to another team that isn't so stacked with big men. Of course that could change if Al is traded.

He's a hustle player, I'm trying to think of guys that were just hustle guys that were athletic that had longer than expected nba careers. I think a lot of people don't think Evans will even be in the NBA. I hope him the best, great guy, exciting to watch.

Seems to me he should be learning to score near the basket with other shots besides a dunk. Isn't he similar in build to that Prince guy that played with Detroit? He should watch some film of that guy. and play SF for goodness sakes. Just stop going for the pump fakes.

but yea, every player on the team should develop a 3 point shot that they can hit for 40%+, but until they do, they should work on other stuff too

Prince played some Point Guard at Kentucky. Evans isn't going to become a guard any time soon.

It's nice that Evans is working on a jump shot, but I'd RATHER he work on his ball-handling skills and footwork, which he needs if he expects to ever play regularily in the NBA. Either that or bulk up, which from what we've seen ain't in his genes.
There have been many undersized PF's in the past who got by with other skills (like running the break, passing, dribbling, etc), and were even starters. Greg Smith of the 1971 NBA champion Milwaukee Bucks was all of 6'5" 195, Bobby Dandridge was the SF at 6'6" 195... And they had a SKINNY kid at C. This team SMOKED their opponents with a 10-2 playoff record, led by Lew Alcindor and Oscar Robertson... GREAT passing, fast breaking and shooting team that got by with great hustle on D...

I sure will miss his 1.6 points per game..... what will we do without the undersized (Skinny) PF that Boler and Harpring have fallen in love with.

yea, so what, irrelevant. Prince played SF in the NBA, and he was about the same build as Evans. Prince mostly the did same sort of stuff Evans does. I never saw him playing pointguard in the NBA.

Prince is actually very skilled. Evans, not so much.

How can you say if he is skilled or not the coach wont play him more than a few mins a game. When he does get to play he never receives a pass from a teammate on the low post or in any position to score. Most of his points are from his own hard work out working everyone on the court to score. Have you even seen him practice at all i mean were are your facts.

There is probably a reason they do not pass to them. I like Evans, alot. But let us face reality. He is a garbage man that can receive an ally oop pass. I hope he stays with the Jazz long term as a situational use late bench role player.

Prince is supremely more talented than Evans and already was as a freshman in college. I agree it's not really relevant. Also, not to be argumentative, but Prince never played PG for UK. He brought the ball up the floor quite a bit, but never ran the offense.

Yea when your coach says he doesn't want you to shoot but you actually can shoot. He wants big al and milsap to have the ball. Thats the reason the jazz are 19-19 lol. There is no team ball goin on at all. The halfcourt offense is stagnant almost all the time. They're decent on the break when harris and watson dont turn the ball over 4 or 5 times apiece. Milsap or big al needs to go they both play way to slow

Focus. This is about Evans skill not team ball. I am pretty sure that if the players on the court had faith in Evans shot he would get the ball. I am not saying in Big Al numbers but he would get shots. The fact that he never does should tell you something.

"Frightened"? That's a little much. I like Jeremy Evans too...he reminds me somewhat of Ronnie Brewer in that he haunts the baseline waiting to get the right pass to throw it home. Besides his leaping ability, which translates really only into dunks and blocked shots, he hasn't really brought a lot to the table. I'd like to hold onto him for sure, but I'm not "frightened" that we'll lose him to free agency. I think a $1 mil - $1.5 mil/yr contract is suitable and should be able to retain him.

Because I'm not a dumb ***.
