The Bucks officialy invited Mekel to join Summer League roster.
He won't make decision before draft night - he said he will play for a team that wouldn't draft PG and will promise him significant playing time in SL.
Sharon Davidovich, the NBA reporter for YNET, thew biggest Israeli news web site says NBA teams interested in Mekel are looking for a backup smart PG. " In a league overcrowded with 20+- year old point guards, teams are looking for high IQ, aggressive defense and experience. This year Mekel has a good chance to become an NBA player. He can be a perfect fit for a team that play "euro style" such as Toronto, or one that love smart point guards so much -Utah Jazz. Anyway, to be consistent and play in that level for few years will be harder for him than getting to the NBA.
He has quite a few physical and athletics disadvantages comparing to his American rivals, but he is overpowering them in game experience, court vision and especially will power.
Bottom line - Mekel can and deserves to be an NBA player, but in order to succeed there, he'll need much more than just traditional BB skills. "
