What's new

Gallinari deal held up until what's his name decides?

Hayward is better than Gallinari but I think it would be only a minor step back to have Gallinari instead of Hayward if he stays healthy. We will also be a better team than the Jazz were last year with him. We need some health luck, we are due.

One of Hayward's best attributes over guys like PG is his passing abilities. However, with Rubio now on board setting the table for all the other guys, his passing may be redundant? Hence getting a score first SF in Gallinari as a consolation is really not all that bad. It's sort of a soft landing, really.

Ricky Rubio is your point guard. Rudy Gobert is your center. Joe Ingles, Rodney Hood, Joe Johnson and the new kid are spacing the floor for you. The coach is running plays to make you look like a star.... Yeah, I could see why Gallinari would play with the Jazz.
I'd be very happy if Utah could get Gallinari. With Jazz over the cap, does this need to have the C's get in on a 3way trade: S&T for Gordon, Hayward goes to Boston, Gallinari and a cap-clearing salary to Utah? If that's the case, no bad feelings for Gordon; he gets his wish and we get Gallinari. Pretty excited if this is the plan.

I would be skeptical, but you pretty much have to do it. His injury history is terrible, gets hurt every year. He can score the rock though and the Jazz really need another scorer if Hayward leaves.

I don't think we have to or should do it. The Clips offered him, what, 23M a year? That's ridiculous for a guy who's always hurt and plays no defense.

This Gallinari deal being in a holding pattern sure seems like his camp is waiting numb nutzz decision with the thought that Utah will give him 4 years and more than the Clipzz.

Am I off here?

That is my hope. But you are my alt, so that is obvious.

I see what you are saying, but good passing is never redundant. Benefits to have passers at all 5 positions. Ball moves with purpose, does not stick.

That is why passing bigs are so valuable: Griffin, Jokic, Gasol, etc. Look at the value of Draymond at the 4.

I'm not sure that they sign somebody else. Jingles likely moves to the starting SF spot with JJ backing him up in the regular season. Hood and Mitchell both get a lot of playing time at the 2 spot.

They are going to have spacing problems without Hayward, that is for sure. But it gives them minutes to go young, take a step back (or sideways) for a year, and leave themselves cap space to sign whoever pans out long-term (Exum, Rod, Donovan (later))

If they give Gallo big long-term money, they may regret it in a year or 2.
