Game #13 Oklahoma City Thunder at Utah Jazz Monday 23 Nov 2015 @ 7:00pm Mtn (Early bird GT)

I would hate to give up on Rudy. Dude just needs to brush off his national team for an off-season and really work on catching the basketball and finishing strong. Whenever he jumps to go finish, it seems like he never has his body under him and he just flails towards the rim.

Guys need to chill... some of the difficults Rudy is having are a bit like hitting the rookie wall for a top pick : he spent a year and half not playing that much and has been playing 35 mins a night since february and had a summer chock full with his national team. He is still a defensive force but team have adjusted to him and his offensive shortcomings are being exposed (a lack of moves and strength).

Patience and being methodical are key.

Lol at overreaction. It was ugly and cost me $75 but not the ed of the world. Defense not as good without Exum which was predictable and no shooters allow for easier rotations for opponents defense. Booker, Hood and Hayward all regressed in that department but DL should cope his share of Blame for not bringing in a 3pt specialist or two.

So this was a disaster. Jazz are better than that. Not better than OKC but good enough to make them earn it.

The NBA and its rules favor scoring like the NFL these days. The Jazz didnt get the memo and think just defense wins championships. The Jazz will always get called bogus fouls even if they play good D,so trying to play caveman ball will beat the average teams it wont work against the elite scoring teams. Thats why the jazz have to change philosophy and start putting some scorers on the team and run like the dickens in the altitude.

What has happened to our defense? For one thing, teams seem to not go inside much, beat us from outside so Rudy is not much of a factor. But last night OKC was way more physical than us. Very ugly.

The Thunder inside D completely overpowered our offense. Chucking the ball around the horn over and over is not going to get it done. We need better post performance and better penetration. Most of our possessions turned into last ditch efforts to score. And if your guy leaves you 10 feet open you better get a shot off.

Good point on the bogus fouls. There has to be a reason why we get so many bad fouls on us, and as you said it must be that the officials have shifted towards a offensive favored mindset.

The regression by Hayward, Hood, Booker and a lesser extent Gobert combined with the loss of Exum has set this team back a bit. We are still playing .500 ball and looking to be a 7th/8th seed. If some of the players step up and show big improvement we could really start to climb. I dont think this team is going to play their best ball until after the all-star break assuming we stay relatively healthy.

Good thing the Jazz had too much talent to go out and add any in the offseason.

It's readily obvious The Jazz don't have the depth to compete with any of the top tier teams. It's getting a little embarrassing watching Ingles/Booker/Lyles getting over matched every night. The Thunder players were laughing at them last night. The Jazz have 6 legit NBA Players (and I'm including Burke whom I wasn't a month ago). The rest of the active roster is lucky to be in the league. That ain't gonna get it done.

I think The Jazz core players have all done their part. Hayward, Burks, Favors have all made marked improvement over the last 3 years. It's time for the FO to step up and give them the supporting pieces they need to be competitive.

So who should we look at this summer? Some of the bigs...

Terrence Jones
Motiejunas
Ryan Anderson
Tyler Zeller
Ezeli

I think the problem is that our best players ARE the supporting pieces. We have no star/alpha dog on this team that can be relied upon to get us 25 pts a night no matter what (even on bad nights like the OKC game). We need to get one. Yeah, I know, easier said than done, but if we want to be a championship contending team, you can't get around this.

I think Exum's injury hurts them a lot more than we thought. For all his defaults, he was a great defender and he brought a lot of size, plus some 3 point shooting. Now every PG can run to the Jazz hoop freely. Gobert / Favors can't block everything, they just don't get enough help here.

Neto / Burke is a terrible defensive squad at PG.

There are just too many holes in the team right now, starting with a good PG and a reliable backup big (Withey would probably be their best bet right now).

I don't understand why they didn't make any trade or recruit any FA after Exum's injury. It hurts the team a lot.

The offense is still bad (Gobert didn't improve, outside of Favors and maybe Burks nobody did actually), but the defense has regressed quite a bit.

The final 19-10 from last year looks over now, the defense is simply not here anymore. It could come back next year with Exum and some reinforcements.

Anyone who didn't see this loss coming was fooling themselves. After that Kanter and Trevor Booker game last year, OKC was definetly going to whoop the Jazz the next chance they got, and they did. And Adams got under Rudy's skin.

Don't draw too much of a conclusion about it though, that was a learning experience. On to the next one. This team is young!!

I still can't condone having Neto and Hood in the starting lineup. Alec and Trey have earned those spots. If the bench sucks with them starting, then make some moves and fix it. Chris Johnson should be movd up in the depth chart too.

I agree 1000% I read a lot of people doubting Exum's importance to our defense. And it is showing already the first quarter of the season. Every team with quick athletic guards have been destroying us. Exum may have not been a big deal on the offensive side. But his defense more than made up for it.

Hassan Whiteside. Those other players will look like wasteful signings in comparison. Give him Trevor Bookers minutes plus 2-3 minutes of Rudy's/Favors,theres 96 minutes to split 3 ways...

He blocked the **** out of Porzingis on a faceup move that ended at the rim, but started at the 3pt line last night, he can easily play PF - you can put him on Blake Griffin... It's a great matchup vs teams like the Spurs, Clippers and OKC IMO.

The Thunder dunked all over the Jazz last night. Not trying to hear this isn't a good idea. dude's leading the league in blocks by a wide margin.

Not really disagreeing, but I don't see Neto being bad on D. Trey is trying harder but not sure he is really any better. Seems like our outside D overall has just taken a major step back, maybe due to Exum being gone. If so, it seems like maybe he helps cover up deficient D by wings as much as PG.

Seems to me that other teams are totally focused on limiting Hay and Favs and doing a good job at it. They are telling us to beat us with Neto, Hood, Gobert, Burke, and Burks on O and they are not getting it done in our losses. Neto and Gobert not gonna be able to do that this year, so it is on the other 3.

Watched Gobert take and make a number of 15 foot shots in warmups. Never seen him take one in a game. Time to try it.
